hotch
I am just wondering if, under full acceleration, the boost gauge should go all the way? I noticed that mine will only go to about 75-80% (i tested it from a full stop, locked into first gear, accelerating with a completely open throttle all the way to 6500rpm before shifting)is that normal, or am i losing boost somewhere? ToxicLemonade
no, the stock boost on an R is only 12psi and the stock one reads right to about 16-17psi. you should have nothign to worry about. I would definately recommend a boost guage though. a small leak in a vaccum line or hose can cause dramatic loss of boost and performance. you can get a cheap on and a pod from almost anywhere. takes 15 minutes to set up as well. -Ryan
Gregg
Ditto. Stock boost on the 850R is 10.6psi. Get an aftermarket boost gauge if you really want to see what you are boosting. The left edge of the gauge on the cluster is about 30inHg vacuum and the right edge of the white is ~1bar (about 14.7psi) boost pressure. However, the instrument cluster gauge is not calibrated, and does not give very precise or accurate measurements.

NateB
What is a good quality , responsive, reasonably priced, boost gauge ?
Bay13
I bought the VDO cause my instrument cluster is VDO. THe VDO is reasonably priced. There are lots more on the market that cost a lot more, but you would have a hard time to prove that the extra money is worth the "brand" name game that some like to play. If you want one with a needle that will show max boost spikes etc. you are going to have to pay more than the VDO.

Guest DougK
I agree with Rich. VDO and Autometer are hard to beat for the money. I have a hard time throwing down 200 bucks for a boost gauge (ie defi, blitz ect).
