SIAMBLUE
Hi,Well what can i say,This is what its all about,I had a brilliant day last Saturday, Started the day at 7am found my Shell garage was closed So had to fill up with BP Ultimate 97 ron. Made me a bit behind schedule to meet up with fellow T5 owners, so had a good run with a CLK Merc,i hit 140 with some much ease,Then found at Avon park my speedo is out by 6mph at 90mph,actually running 96mph,WHEELS/TYRES at fault,My best time through the day was 14.9sec,Good thing about the next meeting i can get the car running faster,As 1, I will be running with smaller tyres as this will be slowing me down,At present i am running 235/40/18s So 225s or 215s on the front are the order of the day,Shell Optimax 98 ron for sure,Also my Iridium plugs are preset at 32 thou so i am going to adjust them down to 28 thou as this is the standard gap,Or chuck them fot coppers,So i have 3 reasons to get my times down,One last thing on my car the previous owner fitted a catback exhaust so i am running 2 cats maybe i should loose one ?Lat but not least does anyone think 215 tyres would be dangerous on a 8j rim?So i can get my speedo back to nearer accurate.Manual Rica beating a Auto Rica 850r. JHEIII874T5M
um, unless that's another one of Johann's uphill tracks, you have some troubleshooting to do. The time you ran is about on par for a well maintained air filter/exhaust T5. How much boost are you holding?Great job going to the track man! SIAMBLUE
I wasn't very happy with my times,But i have only just come out of hospital with a hip operation,But i did my best,Probably the fuel didn't help,But i do believe it is the tyres as i am running around plus 6% on normal diameter,So if you take a 6th off the times then that's not too bad if it works out like that.I need to run 225/35 or 215/35 to get the car to sprint but it does come into its own at 90 mph+ it just flies upto a indicated 140,I was boosting to 21 psi and holding,With a Rica ecu and a MBC,The cars that were there 24 T5s were all from the VOLVOT5.CO.UK Forum,So whats the smallest width peeps have fitted to a 8j rim? JHEIII874T5M
hmmm, check to see how much timing you're pulling at 21 PSI since that's probably a spike, how much boost are you holding a redline? I'd put money on the notion that you'd be faster on 17 PSI vs. 21 PSI... that's just my personal experience though.glad to hear the hospital trip worked :)

SIAMBLUE
Speesh in his 850 T5 did a 13.6 last week at Avon Park.He has a 19t and 3" downpipe,I really have to get the plugs sorted and the tyres, then i can do another run in a couple of months.I have now taken the MBC off but the car doesn't seem to pull so hard now. You're dead right about lowering the boost down,it pulls 21 psi,but i don't know what it goes down to in top yet.Hip is still very sore,As i had 3 screws removed from when i broke it 2.5 years ago in a motorbike accident,
