Seafoam

So I bought a can of SeaFoam a coupla weeks ago from AutoZone, with the intention of using it with the trusty and knowledgable help of Sean(White850T5).  I told my dad about this wonder-cure, and he, being old and wise B) , is not convinced that this stuff actually works.  So I called over to Volvo of Richardson down here in Dallas for a "professional opinion", and the guy there said he had never even heard of the stuff, but told me to bring it in and show him what its all about.  I'm going in tomorrow to get my gas tank looked at because of the recall notice on 850's, so I figure I'll show him this thread on VS while I'm there to give him a little insight into what this stuff is.  I'll report back on what all goes on, if anything goes on.  Right now my idle is getting rougher by the year, and I've almost completed Stage 0, and want to have the car back to as good as new before the summer is out...but don't want SeaFoam to mess things up... <_<

Please report back tomorrow :D

Did you just put it in the gas tank in any of your cars?

LOL not mixing that crap in my fuel. I put it in the intake. Car will not die it you dab the hose in and out of the sea foam. Yeah if you just down the bottle it will, but take your time

Ohk so I talked to one of the Volvo guys over at Richardson (Dallas), his name is Greg, and he said he was really leary of putting this stuff in anything other than the gas tank. He was very explicit in telling me NOT to put it in the crankcase or anything of the sort. However, he mentioned that inducing a 50/50 mixture of water(tap) and the volvo windshield wiper fluid into the vacuum tree in small doses until like 12-16 ounces had been sucked up will do basically the same job of breaking up the carbon deposits. This guy is a service guy who handles customers, and does not work in the shop (I think...) however he has a Volvo with a ton of miles on it, so I would assume that he knows what he's talking about. I'm definitely not a car genius ;) and I don't know if the water vac.tree mixture is right (i.e safe for the car), so if any techs. know if this is legit that would be really good to know...thanks.

Yeahm sorry for resurrecting an old thread. I did this to my 850 turbo and my mom's S80 (both have ~110k miles) and I freaking loved it. Butt tickler pic:

I dumped some in our gas tanks too. Since I did both at the same time I don't know how much of a difference it made. The cars feel a lot smoother now though which is totally cool :)

PS: The neighbors thought our house was on fire!

just did the seafoam treatment... if you don't want to do it for the engine gains then at least do it just to have fun making a huge cloud of smoke :)

I took it in through a hose going to the vac tree... then let it sit for 15 minutes... then started the car and revved it at around 2000rpm for 15 minutes, then drove hard for 10 minutes...

I did set my check engine light while taking in the seafoam.. will this go away after a day or two or do I need to reset something?
