Seafoam

just did the seafoam treatment... if you don't want to do it for the engine gains then at least do it just to have fun making a huge cloud of smoke :)

I took it in through a hose going to the vac tree... then let it sit for 15 minutes... then started the car and revved it at around 2000rpm for 15 minutes, then drove hard for 10 minutes...

I did set my check engine light while taking in the seafoam.. will this go away after a day or two or do I need to reset something?

Depends on the car

it didn't set off a CEL in my 96 850 turbo, but it did on my mom's 00 S80, but it went away after a few hours of driving.

I'm so freaking sick of this Seafoam thread...........It's seems like everytime I'm here someone has posted on it :P ...Just thinking out loud.....you know there are other products as well...BG,Marvel Mystery Oil all can be done through a vacuum line or added to the tank..a real injector cleaning "on the car" can be done with a Snap on motor vac..but it won't clean the intake...sorry the seafoam just tripped a switch..I'm done :D

Anyone know of any unpleasant side effects, i.e. seal damage, etc?

Someone mentioned that the hose they used was soft afterwards - makes me leary about what damage it is doing to other parts.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Sam

I can't believe I'm extending the life of this miserable thread...

I developed a vacuum leak on the passenger side of the intake manifold five days after using SeaFoam. Maybe a coincidence, maybe not. Other than the initial smoke, I really can't tell a difference in how the car runs, idles, performs, or it's fuel efficiency. My cars are hardly neglected, so I guess I should have had low expectations about SeaFoam's impact on them.

Hey guys,

I have to say I have been a member of this forum for at least 2 years and try to check it daily. If you dont want to read a thread why open it?

This is what Seafoam has done for me. My tick is GONE, I had a nice loud tick at start-up for the first 5 minutes of driving. The car just runs smoother. My milage has improved according to my trip computer, I was getting 18.5 around town now I am getting 20.5 which is a NICE improvement. I havent changed anything, from the type of gas I normally use to my driving style.

I bought my 94 855T about 2.5 years ago with around 150,000 miles on it. It had all the records you could possibly want from oil changes(Mobile 1) to transmission replacement. This car was taken care of.

I did replaced the vacumme lines last year, however I did not receive any leaky vacumme lines from this. Just wanted to voice my knowledge on what this has done for my 11 year old car.

Later,

Paul

Can't find Seafoam locally in BC and driving to the US border just for a $6 can is out of the question. So would a bottle of Techron concentrate fuel system cleaner through the intake work just as well? And a noob question - would sucking Seafoam via the vac tree clean the insides of the throttle body? I don't want to take the TB apart if Seafoam can do it. Thanks.

No, Seafoam won't clean the TB. Your Vaccum tree is post-TB.
