Tires

So I'm gonna need new tires (225/40/18).

What is the difference between a performance summer and a performance all season tire in terms of noise level and ride comfort (especially ride comfort)? Keep in mind that I use winter tires for Montreal winters so what ever tire I will purchase will be only for summer.

The reason why I ask is that when I went to a tire shop, they told me for extra comfort go with all seasons, he recomended the TOYO Proxes 4, are those good?

I've been searching the forum, and many seem to like falken azenis for a summer tire. what about other falkens such as GRB FK 451?

I'm looking in this price range as well around $200Cnd.

Thanks,

Mike

I just put on the TOYO Proxes 4 and I only have good things to say about them.  Definitely the best tire that I have had on a car.  The ride comfort was much better than Kumho Excta summer tires that I had just before.

Cool, if you don't mind how much did you pay for them? Where I went they are asking $205Cnd for them. Is that too much?

since you have HD's and Springs i wouldn't be too concerned with comfort...go for handling performance to compliment your susp, especially since you run winter wheels. Why would you want an all season tire if you have no intention of any winter weather use....

Well you may not be concerned with comfort but I am :D I just don't want a tire that will handle out of this world with my dash rattling all kinds.

I just don't understand why the saleman told me to go with all season if I wanted comfort! My michelins(195/55/15-summer) I had before were more comfortable then my dunlops(195/60/15-winter). So if summer vs. all season make no difference for comfort then I will go with summer tires.

Might I recomend the KDWS just for all-season because there snow grip is very good for a performance tire and given were you live I think they might suit your needs better.

Yeah but I have winter tires, and will continue using winter tires for the winter. So I don't need all season for snow, the only reason to why I would get an all season tire would be for a better ride quality - if this is the case. But thank you for you recomendation I will still take a look at those tires.
