KLS
I've got the intake manifold off my '96 850 turbo. So far I've only found problems with the mushy rubber elbow on the right end (mechanic's left) of the manifold, and the other end of that tube was plugged with carbon at the turbocharger inlet. I reamed that out with a small drill bit held in vicegrips. All the other rubber bits look OK...not cracked or mushy.-What else should I check under the manifold? -Anything to check on the oil trap? -I'll clean the throttle body as usual. -Anything else to check on the PCV system? -Do these engines have an EGR system? -Where's that and what to check?Very minor build up of carbon on the backs of the intake valves, and the injector tips are clean. Not bad for 120k, I guess. Tomorrow timing belt day...and t-belt idlers and accessory drive belt.Would it be a good idea to post an inlet manifold removal topic in Bay 13? And, as always, Rich, THANK YOU for Bay 13 and Volvospeed.Ken
Bay13
Clean up the knock sensor connections, and maybe a little die-electric grease on them.
prasamin
i would say replace the oil catch can/separator, replace the hard plastic line in the heat tubing that goes from the manifold to the turbo...replace your intake manifold gasket, throttle body gasket, clean the lines in the PCV system with carb cleaner and wire brushes....i need to do all this...just waiting on the RIP kit and vac hoses and going to knock everything out at the same time....
