Limited Slip Diff

Good day,

I do think that the problem is more with the value of the US$. My advertised price is about right in a European context for a low volume item such as this.

I have a Swedish made dog box in the S60 T5 that I race here in the UK, the lsd in that is £1700 plus VAT if bought separately and I dont perceive much difference in quality or effect.

Have you had a look at the Heico diff. that is, I believe torque biasing like the Quaife design (Quaife only do a rear diff for the current R cars) and the now defunct AP Surtrac.

I have heard of a Company, Drexler, who make something, but I have not been able to find them.

Best wishes, Don.Norchi.

As far as I know Steffansson have still got some old stock of the AP Surtrac diffs. Could be however that they are reselling Heico kit. Also, AP did sell the very last few Volvo units in stock to a Dane who I understood intended to use them up in a rally car project.

The Surtrac was withdrawn from the market by APabout 4 years ago when they got cold feet with the project and sold all the designs to a Japanese company. AP do in fact still make just one for the Caterham.

The problem with the Volvo unit was that AP never got on top of the wear issues with heavy cars and so any Volvo units still out there will eventually fail, with no chance of spares availability.

Regards, Don.Norchi.

i thought i read somewhere a while ago that it was pretty impossible :(

That said, I sure would like an LSD on my M56

Well there are ATs with LSDs, so it is possible. I just don't know if it's possible in the Volvo AT with off the shelf parts. If nothing exists, you can certainly pay to have one custom made ;0)

then you might as well get an M59 box or something and convert to manual ;) Chances are it'll be cheaper lol

I always had the impression the 850 autos are in much less need of an LSD than the manuals too. The autos are much easier to launch without excessive wheel spin

Nah, that's no fun!
