Getting The Trim On The 850 Done

I went to the local Volvo dealer the other day and saw an ad for older volvo trim restore. I asked if it had to be done through the dealer and the service guy just gave me the guys ph#. So he is coming to my office tomorrow, I will take before and after pics. Now I know you guys are going to say try bumper paint etc. But I tried that on my 850 GLT and I suck at doing this stuff and ended up make it look like crap.

I tried it [bumper stuff] on my ones and it takes ages to do it properly, but you can make it look ok in a short space of time. Look forward to the pics :)

If anyone is going to try dye-based bumper stuff like Forever Black or Kiwi Liquid Shoe Polish - use a sponge roller brush for a more consistent coat. The built-in sponge applicator works but leaves subtle streaks. Also, it is very impt that your bumper is free of silicone (from previous application of Armor-all like products) or else the coating will be spotty.

Pras - what did your detailer use when he did your car? It looks amazing!

If you want, you can email me the pics, and I will scratch out the plates if you want, and post them....i really want to see the job....but, posting your pics with plates is not too big of a deal here....everyone here drives Volvos, not chevy impalas on dubs and hydraulics, so I would say you're safe. :D

Man, I have no idea. I just know I dropped a load on the detailing. I got it detailed again today, but a "basic" detail that did not include wheels and interior....I will have to ask him what he uses....I think the great sunset on the beach lighting helps too though....check out the pics I posted inthe FS section for the TSW wheels....those were taken today after detailing

My fault the pics weren't up earlier. I was actually painting all my trim! Still have to do the bumpers tomorrow....oh, and if anyone knows an easy way to remove the grey bumper trim without actually removing the bumper or the wheels to get to the rivets, let me know! Also, is taping off the whole area okay to spray the bumper?

Here are pics of "gaterp"'s car ....looks like an amazing job, now we just need to know how much it cost you, and how long it lasts!

The streaks are from sunlight, not on the bumper!

I'll have pics of mine up tomorrow hopefully....sorry, not before pics, but there are several other pics of my car to go by. I'm doing flat black on mine....hopefully it looks okay, but if not, too late!!!
