aikitect
I have read thru all the posts I can find concerning chips and have visited the sites of most of the chip makers.I am thinking about getting a chip from Speed Tuning USA. I like the price and the performance numbers are right there with everyone else. The chip will take me from 265 hp to 294 hp. It says that there is a 135 nm increase in torque, but I think that is a misprint, the graph shows about a 50 nm increase.Since I have an automatic, I really like that full torque is available from 2,000 rpm's and that there is a noticeable HP increase in the 2,000 to 3,000 rpm range - which is where the tranny likes to stay unless at WOT.I also like that they set the system up for me, as I almost damaged the brain in my Porsche when I chipped it.Looking for any comments to help my finalize my decision. Impeccatus
What model car are you having chipped? My experience was in my 94 854T automatic. Oliver said that for my model, and must be for the 95 also, that he has an extra aggressive program available.Though I'v not been in a side by side comparison, the car is real strong. In first gear it breaks loose at 3000 rpm under WOT. And on the freeway, it pulls very hard. The only slight drawback I'd offer is in the area of future turbo upgrades. If you eventually want to go with the 19t upgrade that seems so popular these days, ST aint got a program for that. But Upsolute does. So that's the question to ask yourself.Happy boosting!!!!!!!! jb7073
I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions.Speedtuning does seem to be the cheapest, but some people have reported a problem with check engine lights after using the chip.As far as experience with the Volvo 850s goes, a lot of people here have had theirs chipped by Bill at Adrenaline Racing. He is an upsolute dealer, and knows the cars pretty well.
Impeccatus
Ooops, just read the sig. I recomend using Upsolute for your car. I don't think ST has the R&D to trust with your model.I would make a new post with the title refering to experience with chipping the V70R. jb7073
Oops, I didn't read the sig close enough either. But if Bill can't help you, you'll probably have to go with IPD/TME or possibly a BSR/RICA? chip.
