850&S80
Hi Folks,My 2001 S80 is coming out of warranty soon. It is a late model built in July 01, so I think most of the major early S80 problems, like trans, were corrected. It's a pampered car, garage kept, and only 36,000 miles in 42 months. The car has been absolutely trouble free. Maybe because it hasn't been pushed!Only real complaint is the hesitation and slowness when pulling away from a stop. Are there any major repairs I should look out for before it comes out of warranty?Hate to pay for a big repair, right after the warranty expires. Thanks,
Bay13
I know you know this but, if there isn't anything broken then the warranty isn't going to fix it. The warranty doesn't cover what might go wrong, and working at a dealer I could list all kinds of things that could go wrong. My advice to you is to buy an extended warranty that covers the throttle body and software, not because you need one now but in the future thats an item that you might need, and if the warranty covers that then it's a comprehensive warranty and would more than likely cover other items. Nebor
I think it's funny that you get some people with S80s that are trouble free, but the vast majority of S80 reviews you read online are like horror stories.

I have only replaced normal wear items. The 2000 model I just bought this last fall had 66,000 miles, now it has 74,000 miles, I just had to replace the throttle body and had the required download. An extended warranty to cover that would have been a good thing. In my opinion the 1999 and 2000 models are a little more finicky, the best thing to do is to not get worried every time the message center gives you a message, my experience has been they usually clear themselves, assuming the car is running properly and a fluid are good, they need to be treated as used cars, if that makes you nervous, by a new or newer one.
