To Those Interested In A Silicone Hose Kit Gb

I was just on Hightemp silicone's website, and I'm curious why you guys all buy starter kits and pay for all the extra tubing you don't need when you can just buy i by the foot and just buy what you need.

Using the per-foot prices right off of their webpage, I calculated $20 for enough blue, black, or red hose to do the Stage 0 with a reasonable amount of excess for error.

Even if I bought hundreds of feet from them to get a good price, it probably wouldn't be worth my time to make kits for you guys as I doubt I could beat $20.

Also, the person that recommended Herbie Clamps instead of zip ties - I looked into it and they are not available in the small 4mm size - so you wouild still have to use zip ties on all 4mm hose. You could only use the Herbie Clamps on the 6 and 8mm. They also run $0.30 each, so depending on how many are needed to do a car i would just be cheaper/easier to use zip ties for all 3 of the hose sizes.

Opinions?

holy crap how lazy are we?

I dont mind having the big jerk kit cause I will always find uses for the extra.

Not everyone will "find" extra uses unless it is pointed out to them... and others just wont know what to do with the extra amounts of silicone hose.

Maybe here on VS there arent as much, but there are definitely people out there...

for me.. at least there are 4 volvos in my house... :P

I still think if Slater makes a "kit" and markets it... he'll have business

No doubt about it, but how lazy can you be to not want to just cut your own hoses.

I second that Doug, having extra hose is not a bad thing at all, and it ain't too hard to just measure and cut your hose....

However, there is a market for kits, so I'm not opposed to that also...Actually, I would just like a pinned one page thread with EVERY SINGLE vac line that needs to be replaces, and the diameter and length needed to do it along with a diagram....

This would eliminate my want for a kit...I know we have the thread that is all disorganized with alot of the lines, but I'm pretty sure that's not everything (just what is accessible easily)....we just need a set thing for our cars.....

Cut your own hoses and have a ball, i don't think you'll have much luck with the one that seems to break regularly for people (with the branch to the idle motor).

I don't care anyway, my Samco one should be here post-haste, and at 200US who cares if there is a market for it, the profit per piece would be awesome.

And with that, best of luck!

Hold on here - I wouldn't be selling little precut pieces of hose. A 2 year old with scissors can cut their own hose.

I would be selling the CORRECT amount of each size of hose to do the critical stage 0 stuff under your hood, where you only PAY for what you need as opposed to buying a starter kit where you get 30 feet of extra hose that you paid for but can't use. For example, if you only need 3 feet TOTAL of 6mm hose, I will give you a single 4ft piece of 6mm hose - enough to do all of the 6mm stuff with a little extra for waste or screw ups. It will be up to YOU to cut it.

Unless you guys do literally want little precut pieces. If you really want that I can do that because I know how to use scissors and a ruler.

Again, the idea of a "kit" wasn't for pre cut pieces. It was NOT having to pay $60 for a bigass starter kit from HT with 15ft of 3.5mm hose that you can't even use at all, 15ft of 4mm hose when you only need 3ft (an example), 10ft of 6mm hose when you only need 2ft (an example), etc. Why not just sell you only WHAT YOU NEED, which would make the kit $20 or $25 instead of $60?

That was the original idea...

Samco couplings and elbows rock, but we're talking about small silicone vacuum lines here...
