To Those Interested In A Silicone Hose Kit Gb

Oh, I understand that, but my comment was geared more twd just having the EXACT specs pinned with a diagram....I mean, I got my starter kit for $30, so I ain't complaining...Anyone with index fingers intact can cut hose!...A kit would be cool for the sake of having a diagram or ALL hoses that need to be replaces, and a list of approx length needed....don't care for exact cuts...that would make no sense to me to have exact cuts...no room for error!!

I dont mind doing a single writeup for the hoses, but I don't have a diagram of EVERY single hose, where they go, if they can be replaced with silicone...We have that one thread with almost everything covered, but it's very unorganized and I'm pretty sure there are more hoses than listed there that can be replaced....

Yes, I would include the diagrams and instructions needed to replace your hoses. That's part of the thing that would make it a "kit" and worth a little extra $. Plus knowing that you are helping a fellow VS member fund other projects like tubular manifolds, dps, etc.

Slater,

You're right, and this is exactly what I did. I did buy a little extra hose from Hightemp Silicone, but the starter kit has way more hose than I needed, much cheaper to buy what you need. I am sure people would still be interested in kits containing the appropriate lenghts of hose, however.

I was just on Hightemp silicone's website, and I'm curious why you guys all buy starter kits and pay for all the extra tubing you don't need when you can just buy i by the foot and just buy what you need.

Opinions?

yup, diagram is key, as long as ALL hoses that can possibly be replaced are included...I already posted interest in your other thread for this...this is one of the reasons why my starter kit is sitting in my closet, SEALED...If you say for sure you can get a "kit" before Frank ships my RIP kit, then I will tell him to send me a red kit, and have you send me red hoses....as of now, I have grey starter kit, and have ordered a black RIP kit...if you get your kit ready before he ships the RIP, then I can buy it....

Well, at this point since I don't even know IF I will be doing this, I would say don't wait on account of me. I do things RIGHT even if it takes longer, and if I decided to do this I would have to order the stuff for myself, and use my car to document the install and iron out the kinks, write up instructions, place a large order, prepare them into indivdual kits, post order info, and prepare for shipping.

Like you said you got a really good deal on your starter kit so I would say got for that if it's getting down to crunch time for you.

I'm still very interested in this, even if I have to wait a little longer. I'd much rather wait and have someone be able to help me not screw up as much and save myself some money than to just charge head-on into something I know little about....

Keep us updated, and thank you!

Slater, suggest that you have HTS or Turbohoses make the 5-pc and 2-pc turbo and coolant silicone hoses, and then package this together with the silicone vacuum hoses as a complete kit. There are a couple of peeps willing to donate their OEM hoses for this purpose. I think gdogg is looking into this as well.

That would be very difficult at the qty levels we are looking at. They have a very SMALL number of products, and honestly are pretty limited in the products they do make. For example, they only have 90 and 45 elbows, and only in 4-ply polyester fiber. Other bigger companies have 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 elbows in 2 different plys with different material choices besides polyester.

Also, I just got off the phone with the owner. Their dealer buyin is HUGE IMO. And that's just to BUY their stuff. To convince them to MAKE brand new and wacky-as-hell elbow kits like the Samco kits would require a qty committment in the THOUSANDS in each color! I'm not going to commit to that when in reality we may only buy a few dozen if that - maybe 100 over a year or two's time.

What I am looking at is if I become a HTS dealer, I will be able to offer anything they sell including stainless t-clamps and CT-clamps at good prices. I think a smarter way to go would be for me to offer a "Stage 0" kit that includes Samco elbows, HTS t-bolt clamps, and HTS silicone hose for the vacuum lines. That would be way easier and smarter than trying to force HTS to reinvent the wheel when Samco already has the kits and has had them for years.

Slater, great follow-up. Oh well seems like a cheaper and quicker alternative to the Samcos isn't likely. But your idea of pre-packaging Samcos with HTS stuff and the all-important how-to is really a good one.

OK, I have finished crunching the numbers on a POSSIBLE Stage 0 kit.

What the kit will include is:

- Hightempsilicone 4mm, 6mm, and 8mm platinum silicone hose - enough to to the critical Stage 0 stuff, with an extra foot of each hose to account for error or little extras like MBCs. This is the best silicone hose money can buy.

- SS T-bolt clamps for ALL charge elbows - the clamps can be used for stock elbows AND the Samco hoses

- SS T-bolt clamps for radiator coolant hoses - again, the clamps can be used for stock radiator OR Samco hoses

- Plenty of color coded zip-ties

- Detailed installation instructions with pictures

The kits will be available in black, red, and blue. Also, there will be additional kit upgrade options available if you wanted to do windshield washer line, etc.

Most people said they wanted black, a lot of people said blue, and a few said red.

The price would be $65 SHIPPED to anywhere in the US. That is one heck of a price since that's about what people are paying for just the silicone starter kits! But this includes 14 t-clamps which run about $4-$5 each depending on where you get them!

Remember, this has not happened yet. I am just putting the feelers out still to see if I want to commit to doing this. HTH requires a rather large buyin to become a dealer and I am honestly a little uncomfortable doing so unless I really have committment from you guys that this is something you will buy. I would need to sell at least 50+ kits total to make it worth my time.

Let me know what you think.

Guest DougK

Thats quite the kit there bud!

My only suggestion, make the tbolts optional for those who are goign to do the RIP kit eventually, they'll end up with 2x the clamps they need :D
