New Battery 2003 S40T?

PLANT

Recommended Posts

H all,

This is now my third battery.

Original Volvo battery DIN55 with 550CCA it lasted 5-6years and replaced 2009.

The next battery was Exide Endurance DIN55with 500CCA lasted to today 2015.$186AU installed .

I have just purchased a new Exide Endurance DIN55MF 550CCA. $200AU Kmart Auto pickup

Can someone give me tips on removing clips that hold it in.

I watched Carcarekiosk and not sure if the same.

Even though I have all lights, it turns\cranks but does not engage?

I attempted to jump start with neighbour but that made it sound worse so now it is like a machine gun in attempting to start?

Tomorrow I will attempt to install new battery to hopefully fix the issue!

So New battery is in...thought I would post experience and info for others in future:

All car off.

Gloves on and googles recommended! Head torch, rags.

Removed bracket that holds battery in place by pulling up...this released easy.

Used shifter to remove bolt on connection.

Negative terminal connection first to remove.

Noted that washer under bolt and clamp under connection that keeps connection together...removed and placed them together.

You can move battery to the left to allow easy access to bolt.

Had to wiggle...move left and right to wiggle the connection off the terminal...force needed!

Positive connection the anti corrosion solution had stuck the connection to the terminal and the washer too.

In trying to remove the washer it fell into the engine bay but fortunately fell to the floor phew!

Battery slide out easy, remember there is a lock in lift closet to the windscreen....pull battery towards you.

Cleaned positive terminal with rag.

Place the new battery in and Positive terminal on first.

Negative terminal connected...noted a spark be warned.

Slide battery right and placed on bracket to secure battery....noted it just fits over solenoid below ?

Had bonnet up and went to start car after all lights on inside car(dashboard and roof lights. Turn Aircon to 0 NOT AUTO.

Mine turned but did not engage??????

I then put bonnet down and tried again and pressed pecal a couple of times?

Finally engaged and ran for 5 minutes.

Works every time now.

Recommended I go for a drive 20-30minutes to ensure new battery fully charged up!
