Upsolute troubles

After installing the 3" DP, 550cc injectors and Upsolute tune, I'm getting a long term fuel trim rich CEL and an overboost CEL. No real issues before these mods. After installing the DP, I drove the car home - 45 minutes, and pulled the ECU to send to Upsolute. After re-installing the ECU, the engine ran fine. Got the CEL partway on my trip north, but the engine ran fine. Now, I have fouled plugs and smell gas in my oil. Cleaned the MAF, FPR is new OEM fresh with the injector install. Was wondering if the O2 sensors got switched when the DP was installed.

To address the overboost, I took two turns off the wastegate adjustment. I haven't been able to run the car long enough to evaluate the effect of this as yet.

Changed the oil and checked the turbo hose path, no issues there, Turbo control solenoid is working. Vacuum lines seem fine - no visual issues. Wastegate actuator is working as designed.

Thoughts anyone?

Is the Upsolute map tuned for 550cc injectors? Or is it a generic map that increases fuelling using stock injectors?

The tune was supposed to be for the 550 CC injectors

Yea and aren't the 550s The ones with the leak down issue?

This is the first I have heard of a leak down issue with 550 cc injectors.

I'm going to change the MAF and the front O2 sensor. After that, if the issue isn't resolved, then I may just opt for a stock injector tune for the 14T. Sad really. After so long to come this far.

Couple people had issues with the RC550s running rich from or stumbling from them leaking fuel at idle and when the motor is off and dumping fuel under load

These are five-O motorsport units. That doesn't mean it isn't happening, just a different mfg.

Upsolute pointed me back to my rep.

I'll change the MAF and O2 sensor and see. After that I'll ask for a stock injector/14T tune and leave well enough alone.

Do you have the port for the A/F guage on your downpipe? You might have to go down the road of getting wideband A/F to monitor or get a dyno to see if your current fuel ratio. Even if they use a rear sensor from the muffler tip on dyno session, it still give you an idea on on your fuel condition.

Gas in the oil is leak down from the injectors for sure. Is it difficult to start when cold? Typically if it takes a 2nd crank then its due to some leak down and lack of pressure in the rail at startup. This would also explain the rich condition. I'd change out the injectors and see where you're at.

Nope, I didn't put a wideband port in the dp, shame on me.

I'm not near the car ATM -traveling. The last time I started it, after changing the plugs, it started right up, stumbled for a moment, idled normally for about a minute and a half, and then began to run rough. I will be retrieving stock injectors to try per Rene B. @upsolute. I have a call in to Five-O and they have not as yet made any decision.

I'm changing the O2 sensor (new),MAF and MAP (spares) plug wires (broke a stand-off) as well as plugs again upon my return. Wish me luck.

  • 2 weeks later...

Final Wrap up on this. Replaced the injectors with stock, replaced the sparks, oil change and test drove it - got a MAF signal High error. Swapped the MAF, reset adaptation and have driven it a week with no CEL. No Change on the tune. Patted the car on the A$$ and sent her down the road, cause now she's gone baby gone.
