2001 How to remove interior A pillar trim?

Recommended Posts

My guess is that this interior piece was re-installed incorrectly by some hack during a windshield replacement before I got the car.

It just doesn't fit right and the clear plastic clip that holds temporary pass, parking voucher etc. is kind of wonky.

I just want to pull the trim, reset the plastic clip and reinstall the piece correctly.

Any hints?

Thanks

I don't have the cool kid piece for the vouchers but the clips connect to the pillar and the frame/rail but are slightly connected by a ~3 inch piece of plastic.

I would pull the pillar and the and the clips from the rail, not the pillar, clip them together, then try and put it into the rail already joined. That lower one nearest to the dash is going to be the pain probably.

I assume you are already familiar with pulling the a-pillar ^_^

Actually, no. I've never pulled the A pillar trim. I referred to Haynes, but that wasn't much help.

You make it sound like there are 3 components that make up the trim piece.

Removal seems like it might be something like pull the top part of the trim toward the inside of the car and try to slide the trim up - parallel with the A pillar - at the same time.

It's kind of hard to describe I'll bet.

Go watch it in HD and see big style nah mean. The top clip should be able to illustrate that it clips into itself, once fastened to the rail. You CAN also remove the pieces of clip on the pillar by pulling them out sideways I believe.
