AdrianR
Ok so my pas side axle popped out the other day, fluid leaking everywhere. Doesnt appear to be any internal trans damage but axle popped out of the trans and the center mount closer to the wheel. My question: Does the center mount come as part of the axle assembly or is a standalone part that needs to be purchased seperate ? 00 s40 btw. TEEKAY
I believe its separate, assuming I'm thinking of the same piece I had to knock mine off my old one with a hammer when I changed them.

Ol' Dirty Noodle
he's talking about the carrier bearing, shouldn't need to be replaced, and yes it's a separate part
AdrianR
yeah its the carrier bearing it actually fell apart and caused the axle to slide out. new axle came with a bearing pressed on already so i just opted for that it was cheap enough. AdrianR
yeah thats it. when i took it off the cup was fine the bearing on the axle had just blown apart and left the outter brace attached in the mount.
1clean00
Each time I've replaced the long axle, on my old V70R, my old S40, current S60, and the V40, i've always cleaned the carrier bearing and applied a light layer of anti-seize there as well as on the lug nuts. Makes future R&R a breeze.
