s40speed
Hi guys I was working on the car today and noticed the rad was rotting so what are simple proformance options for a 00 S40 radiator not an intercooler a coolant radiator any help is appreciated thank you
Welditup
Shop for the stock dimensions on your factory unit and find a aftermarket unit that matches. I wouldn't bother upgrading your radiator, spend the extra cash on your intercooler. Have a welder do up the end pipes and bungs for the sensors, shouldn't cost more that $100 at a shop if you have everything figured out for him welding it. 1clean00
there isn't really need to upgrade. The stock units are fine, especially if this is on an otherwise stock vehicle. If you had a fully built engine and a large frame turbocharger i'd recommend upgrading, but for everyday driving the stock unit works.
Phixion
Just get a good quality OEM replacement. When I replaced the radiator on mine, I came to learn that at least for Ebay sellers, there's grades of products that they use... C grade is what you'll find on Ebay for cheap. B grade is like what you'd find at most auto parts retail stores, and A grade of course is best quality. I went with a B grade which was pretty cheap on the wallet, but bought from the seller directly in person, so essentially got a B grade for C grace cost. Worked out fine, and had no issues with it. s40speed
Ok though when I do this I'm also hooking up my fmic any idea how to mount the stock rad without the stock intercooler on the car I'd rather use a stock radiator if I can figure out how to mount it ya know
1clean00
You can simply use some washers in place of the intercooler mountings to fill the void. I put pieces of rubber vac line on the mounting bolts on my S60 to both space them out for mountings purpose, and to isolate any noise/vibration. And if you hadn't though about it, you may want one of these...http://www.snabb.us/99-02-weld-on-MAPIAT-bung_p_157.html that way you can mount the IAT sensor and the MAP sensor that are integral to the stock intercooler. You'd want them on the intercooler-throttle body pipe, roughly the same distance they are now away from the throttle body.
s40speed
Cool thanks but the maf is on the intake tube right off the air box the is that hose on the manifold right below the iac valve is that what they are talking about when they say maf My fault wasn't paying attention ignored the p I seen ma and assumed u were talking about the maf the map sensor is in the manifold on mine right beside the injectors does anybody sell any adaptor for the iac hose or does that have to be custom Idk what u call a highly modified engine but here's my mod list. Mototec cone filter, upgraded tcv, lightweight crank pulley, red injectors, throttle and intake spacer, mbc @15psi,breather catch can, aluminum intercooler tubing turbo to throttle body I think that's all on the car still to come fmic,14t turbo and tune, custom exhaust, ported and polished head and intake if they can do it, big bore throttle body, better wastegate and atmospheric bov, then I'll probably run at least 20psi so what do you think will the stock rad handle it
1clean00
There are two map sensors, one leaving the intercooler, and one on the manifold. There is also an IAT sensor on the intercooler. Don't know why you're talking about the MAF at all, has nothing to do with the intercooler. You will though have to route a hose to the IAC valve, just need to weld a fitting on your interccooler piping and run a length of hose to the iac valve, otherwise it'll idle and run like stuff. s40speed
Ok and I was not paying attention when I said maf that was my mistake lol so u know what's on the car and what's going to be on the car can the stock rad handle it or should I upgrade
1clean00
The radiator is fine, you won't need to upgrade it for the power level you're making or will ever make. Unless you are planning on fully building the motor and dropping serious $$$ on a turbo and tuning. The stock radiator is going to be fine. If you're that concerned with cooling, replace the cooling system in its entirety and convert to evans waterless cooling... http://www.evanscooling.com/.
