davegeri
What is the best BOV for B4194T2?Now I have a "noname" blow off valve from friend for a try, but I heard that SSQs are the best for MAF sensored engines Is this true?
theForgottenone
Yes. Bov is kinda like a cool accessory that doesn't improve anything on auto.
Welditup
If you end up having issues with the bov then try opening up that intake and exhaust and it'll sound like a whole new car. You will hear that wittle turbo spool for once and the stock bypass valve becomes much louder.
Exekiel
This might be a noob question but does the s/v40 have a bov or cbv stock? In reading on the subject I heard that sometimes bov can cause problems with sensors. Is this not the case with our model? Is there a performance increase, protective measure, or purely sound aesthetic?
davegeri
Bov just for the turbine's life increase and for the sound (if its atmospheric)
1clean00
The s/v40 has a compressor bypass valve that recirculates the excess pressure back into the intake. On an automatic car a blow off valve is unnecessary. You'd be better off going with a higher duty CBV, like Forge or Kinugawa...http://shopping.kinugawaturbo.com/kinugawabilletadjustablemitsubishiturboblowoffvalvebovvolvosrt-4gm.aspx

1clean00
I dont have auto transmission. M56L2K Even then, you won't gain any performance, just noise. If you want more performance out of the system, ditching the internal wastegate and going with a custom external would be the way to go. If you have to have the BOV, Forge makes a kit... http://www.ebay.com/itm/VOLVO-S40-V40-TURBO-FORGE-DUMP-VALVE-and-FITTING-KIT-FMFK049-/140969191160
Phixion
Plus in certain states (or maybe just CA), an atmospheric release BOV wouldn't pass smog. Actually anything that releases into the air except the tail pipe wouldn't pass smog. What I did with my 40 when I had it was gut out ALL of the sound deadening foam inside of the airbox, put in a K&N panel filter, and remove the little cover on the front of the airbox that's held on by 4 screws (if yours has that). You'll be able to both hear the stock turbo spool up, as well as the bypass valve release when you let off the throttle. Mine made enough sound that people with their windows down (or ricers) would look over in surprise when they'd hear it. Can't beat a BOV sound for free...
