stringwalla
Admittedly not an R Guru. I've owned a '04 from 17K miles to the current 160K. The ride has become unbearable on slow rough streets. Smooth highway is still great. I assume I need new spring seats for a start. Well, with the struts out, why not replace them at this overdue mileage? Until I saw the dealer cost . Ok, I can do better online. Checked IPD and all other potential sites including eBay and Amazon. Many sites are sold out, and the ones remaining are avg $400/ea. Still a little more than I want to spend. So then I read Monroe C2501's are compatible with just a little nudge to get the strut cap on. Still can't find these anywhere for the old price under $300/ea. Still $400 avg/ea. Guess there's a shortage on all options. Anyhow, to get to the end of the story, I just found a Volvo dealer (I think) in Tempe, AZ, that has some on eBay listed as S60 assemblies. But the p/n is for the R version (30683703, 30636665). I called them with my VIN, they verified part #, and compatibility. They're $257 + $12 s/h. Just a couple left. Hope I got it right, and someone here can benefit from the last couple available. http://www.ebay.com/itm/04-07-S60-Front-Suspension-Strut-30683703-/231570402201?fits=Make%3AVolvo&hash=item35eaabeb99:g:itgAAOSw3ydVqRkv&vxp=mtr
Tzantushka1568908311
If they are the right struts - sounds like a bargain!
ritchj
The Monroe C2501's are $410 a pair at Amazon.
stringwalla
I see them at $332/ea at Amazon
glm409
That's a great deal from Volvo. www.rockauto.com lists Monroe equivalents at 220.79 plus shipping from Europe which puts them at about the same price as your Volvo find. That's the least I've seen, so I don't think you will find a better price.
stringwalla
Guess they noticed their mistake or became aware of current market price. Price has been updated to $407/ea.
smaka
I just ordered a couple just in case from Amazon and they were $251 free shipping each. But won't ship for 1-3 months... One other question - some red fluid under the car, near inside driver side wheel. Just had transmission replaced under extended warranty and wondering if that is the issue. Going in to Volvo tomorrow for them to have a look. Any ideas before?
