Welditup
Sup guys. My oil return line is leaking on the turbo(not the fitting on the block). I hear the fitting on the block is a bad design( prone to leaking) and want to hit both issues at once. Any suggestions on what kind of lines I should run and what to do to make the fitting on the block a stronger seal?
Ol' Dirty Noodle
Oil-less turbo if you got $8k lol
theForgottenone
Most of the time, it is the seal that goes out. I had good luck with mine since no leak after the install of the hybrid turbo.
1clean00
it's an o-ring on the drain tube in the block and a paper type gasket on the turbo drain itself. It's less than $10 in parts and an hour job max. Not a hard job and they don't leak that often in my opinion. It's shouldn't at least for several miles, like 100K. Welditup
Thanks guys. Well when it rains it pours, the pressure line to the turbo let go too and its leaking on my exhaust causing some smoke when it gets into boost. On top of that I just got a small boost leak that I can't find as well. UGH, JOY!!!
TEEKAY
If that seal is pinched it'll leak :/ Don't the coolkids with big builds tap it for a braided line?
1clean00
Not necessary to do braided stainless lines unless you're using an aftermarket turbo. And even then it's usually just the feed line, the drain can be bent slightly to still work. The oil line has 4 crush washers, i'd replace the line and the banjo fittings as well for cheap insurance. The banjos and the fitting at the block i've seen develop tiny cracks before that seep oil or can even mist oil under boost.
