Shredder1568908593
Recently installed new struts/coils and after the install I noticed a weird noise when turning at lower speeds that I haven't heard before. Waited a little while, thinking it would go away, but it didn't. Today I decided to take the front strut off, disassemble, and reassemble being super careful. Sure enough, there was visible wear from rubbing on both the spring and the interior of the strut tower. I thought about it and decided I must've torqued the upper mounting nuts before dropping the car onto the wheels. This time around, I waited until I dropped the car to torque the upper nuts, and it does seem to have fixed the problem (when driving/steering) That being said, when I jack the front right of the car up the spring still rubs as it moves up with the rest of the car. 1clean00
Did you simply replace the coil springs and struts or did you replace the rest of the hardware also? When i converted mine from 00' to 01' front suspension i replaced every bit of hardware and installed the completed assembly. Strut, spring seat (rubber), spring, bellow, bump stop, isolator(rubber), spring seat (metal), bearing plate (plastic), top mount. Sounds like you may have the spring seat oriented improperly. Shop manual says to line up the hole on the outside of the spring seat with the outside hole on the strut assembly.
