Battery Tender

Recommended Posts

Does anyone here use a battery tender or trickle charger on a VR?

Curious what setup anyone uses. I want to get one with the "quick disconnect" system where you install plugs basically, so you're not connecting and disconnecting terminals repeatedly. Tried reading the manuals for some models online, but couldn't really find any answers.

My basic question is; do you connect them to the battery terminals directly in the hatch? Or to the jump point and ground under the hood? If you have to connect directly to the battery, how you run the cords out without leaving the hatch open?

Thanks

Not aware of a 'out of the box' quick connect battery tender solution for the V70.

I guess you could make a Frankenstein version by using the Electric Block Heater connectors - (youtube video)

e.g. buy the accessory kit and make your own wiring

But I would ask why do you need a battery tender?

Either :

1. you don't drive the car enough = drive the car :) more!

2. the battery is dying = new battery

I definitely don't drive it enough. It's a 4th car that gets primarily used only for cruises on nice days. I bought it in 2009 with 27k miles, at that time it was the lowest mileage V70R I could find, now it still only has 31k miles.

For use with a regular battery charger, do you guys still just hook up the positive to the jump point under the hood, and ground the negative then?
