colo-v70r
At the time of my purchase, I was incorrectly told that the backup sensor was not available with the sub-woofer option. I've now come to learn that it's an easy add-on. For those that have it, is having the factor beeping at you worth it? Has it been irreplaceable and saved you given rear visibility and limited turning radius etc? Thanks in adv!
Tzantushka1568908311
Yes, I pinged the dealer when I bought my car back in 06 for RPA (rear park assist). Degree of safety. There are two options with Volvo genuine RPA. The good one (which is integrated in the sound system and has a dash over ride switch) The low cost option (which is a box and beeper buried in the rear cargo trim - no override switch) Sorry but don't have the part numbers handy... TacklaNHL1568908860
Yes. I actually really do like this feature and makes life MUCH simpler especially when parallel parking. But.... for $500... you might want to consider putting that into a new double-din headunit with a screen (Navi and all that too, but you can get cheaper ones that include navi) and a backup camera. The camera is much easier to conceal than the sensors. I'm not 100% crazy about the design of these sensors in our bumpers... Kinda gawdy.
jjdavieshall
I find them quite useful. I have factory original that mutes music when in reverse, they call out obstacles at angle to rear of car or as you swing in to parking space and the sound rhythm remits as you move past that angle it perceive hedge, meter post, etc, you get used to that. Great on parallel parking to judge and not contact other car, etc. Will call out when the wife cuts behind the car to run into the garage (waiting or thinking option not available on spouse, or remains intermittent, I should say). JRL
Don't buy new. I bought the entire set up used from www.erievovo.com, the 4 sensors with their harness, the controller that installs near the REM and the dash switch for $150 I haven't installed them yet as drilling out the bumper will take some time but the instructions, all 19 pages of them from VIDA are on line (or email me and I will sned them to you). You will need software from your dealer to activate the system but this is the factory set up that plays through your radio
