Bluetooth into HU-850

Hi gang -

i havent been here for a while .... And Ive decided that Id like to bring my 2006 V70R into the modern age .... 10 years since I bought it and with 18K miles!  I would like to add bluetooth music streaming. I dont care too much about bluetooth phone pairing.

What is the least invasive way to do this?  A few years ago I think I read something about a GROM but I am unsure if that isneedlessly complex these days.

Thanks.

I looked into this in depth some time ago - I think the best option is the Grom kit that plugs into the radio.  Everything else operates off of the antennae and the audio quality isn't that great.  I did use a Grom kit in out other car and the Mic. stinks on that particular application.  The mic needs to be positioned just in the right spot for it to pick up voice clearly.

IPD does have the kit, but it is overly expensive ($198) in my opinion.  It looks fairly easy to install.  If you aren't worried about the voice options then maybe one of the cheaper kits would be sufficient.

Thanks.  I appreciate you taking the time to type that up.

I stumbled across some threads and I realized that GROM and IMIV do similar things ---- and that the IMIV offers not only BT ability but also backup camera integration with my OE sat nav screen as well as Composite video in (not sure what I would do with that....)

The price is not inexpensive, but it is supposed to be able to be installed at the rear of the car where the DVD navigation unit lives.  Not having waste an hour to pull apart the center console / factory OE head unit is a big plus.  I'll see how I get on.

I thought briefly about hooking up an apple TV to the composite inputs of the IMIV so that I could airplay google maps from the iPhone to the sat nav display, but I bet the lo-res 2004-era resolution of the sat nav display is pretty lousy for that....
