misa
Is instrument cluster from s,v70 from '97 or '98 compatible with 850? I know that '99+ will not work because of CAN protocol. Is it direct fit to 850? I have broken odo gear(s) and i would like to upgrade to a digital odo which s,v70 have.
MattyXXL
In to your 97... Yes Pre 95 no. Go go for a VR cluster, the Blue is nicer to look at
misa
So...no modifications of any kind required for '97 850? What about cosmetic look? Some says that s,v70 cluster is different shaped and doesn't physically fit the best way around edges. Did somebody allready performed this kind of modification/upgrade? I would like to see the pictures of how it fits in 850.

I ran it in my 96 for years, let me see if I can find pictures No mods needed, its plug and play as long as its a 98 cluster. 99 and up clusters wont do something from what i remember

bmdubya1198
99 cluster will fit and plug in too, but I don't think it'll work because it's part of the CAN bus network. I don't know exactly what doesn't work, but I know it's not compatible with the '98 and older cars. As long as you use a '98 cluster, it should be no problem as far as fitment. misa
Are part numbers of the cluster from '98 and '99 different? I found one locally, but don't know from which year the car was.

If anything the symbols are a bit different, Lambda to CEl, the Odometer stays on all the time in a 98 where as the 99+ is turns off after a set time. (thought maybe that's ecu related?) bmdubya1198
I think so, yes. Be careful with that PN on the back though, that's for the back cover, not the cluster. That should be the same between '98 and '99 models.
misa
Can somebody post part numbers for '97-'98 cluster(EU had s,v70 from '97) and for '99+? I can't take it back when i buy it. Just want to be sure.
bmdubya1198
According to VIDA, the PN for 1998 MY is 9459557. This PN is for the "wiring plate" (circuit board), so that may be the same in the European market. However I'm not 100% sure on that because I know the EU clusters are different with the KM/H speedo, L/100 KM fuel gauge, and some warning lights and whatnot. 1999 PN for the same part is 9451507. Hopefully this can be of some help for you! You'll probably have to remove that back cover to see this number, though.

Does it match edges perfectly ...just like 850 cluster? EDIT: Never mind...i just found what i was looking for: http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?57561-v70-dash-clocks-in-an-850-t5&highlight=s%2Cv70+clocks+into+850 It shouldn't matter if the car is 10v or 20v...isn't it? bmdubya1198
I can't say for sure being that we didn't get 10v cars here in the States, but I would think you could use it no problem.
