JCviggen
It doesnt happen often that one finds a serious car to race with here in Belgium...so whenever I do see something I try to make the best of it.I had just washed my car and waxed my hood, and took the car out for a slow stroll to the gas station to get some fuel in the tank for the Nürburgring trip tomorrow. On my way back, I suddenly notice a scoobie with a hood scoop in my rear view mirror. It was an old model, i'm guessing maybe 96 or so, it had the slighly smoother front end still.Anyway he signals that he's going onto the highway...so I turn onto it as well. I just let him pass me once we get on, and just follow him at 130-140 kmh. (80-ish mph).As its saturday the highway is pretty quiet, which is a good thing of course. I had noticed from the start that the scoobie had a huge FMIC, so huge in fact he had to place his licence plate half onto his hood. I was a little worried about that, chances being that such an intercooler was connected to a bigger than stock turbo...either way, i decided to see what it could do. As he passed me, I saw it was a 50+ yr old guy driving, and I also noticed a huge exhaust and a Nurburgring sticker on the back. This was now officially rather interesting. He apparently noticed I was tailing him and overtook an XC90 on the right, I followed him...I wasnt on my "good" behaviour I guess. We had to wait for another car to go to the right but then there was clear road ahead. I was in 4th gear a good 3500rpm still doing about 80mph and off we went...he immediately jumped a few meters away from me, and by the time I reached 125 and ran out of 4th gear he had pulled a good car and a half on me I would say. It sounded like a bat out of hell and smoked a little all the way from running rich (gray smoke). Sadly after I shift to 5th he let off. It was my impression that he was no longer gaining anything on me around 125mph, and I could probably have stuck to him in 5th gear pretty well.He then proceeded to show me scoobies have a lot better brakes than my 850 by braking so much I nearly had to floor the brake pedal not to rear end him. He had no choice though as a car had pulled in front of him.He then stuck to 80mph again and I slowly rolled past him, giving him the thumbs up and we both smiled at each other lol. I stuck to 80 and he then roared past me again, I took the first exit. I cheered myself up by thinking I probably surprised the hell out of himWith some luck I'll see him at the Ring tomorrow and then I can find out what he did to his scoobie. Quite obviously I was glad I could run him from a medium speed roll as he would have utterly demolished me at low speed. Respect for that Impreza. JCviggen
Well I was still happy I could run him, and we both enjoyed it But i'm still hoping he's in germany tomorrow, I'm curious what the specs of his car are. Scoobies arent normally that good at high speeds ;)

JCviggen
Thats true, there's always something faster! That said, I think a 19T would have been all I needed to teach the scoobie a lesson
550
jc haha excuses excuses So what you waiting for on that 19t then eh? :)
JCviggen
cant afford it! I do intend to get one, some time...and just put it in my 16/18T turbine housing so I dont need to change anything else except the chip.In reality, I suspect the impreza had definately more than 300hp and if you cant beat a car below 120-130mph then there's no point in trying to beat it at higher speeds than that. 550
re the speed comment: I agree it just gets dangerous unless you are on a track at certain speeds :-\I knwo you ahve answered this before but you are making how much HP and tq with the turbo you have now? JCviggen
I honestly dont know, I havent dynoed it yet and even if I did every dyno gives different results...a while ago I had the chance to compare my car in a race with 3 other 850s and judging by the outcome of that I am guessing I can have no less than 290 at the engine, which would translate to somewhere around 255-260whp (by Dynojet standards I guess lol) Maybe a little more than that I dont know, it runs really well.maybe in a few months I'll dyno it for a closer guess. JCviggen
viggen means thunderbolt i believe←To be specific, its the lightning that comes off Thor's hammer...lol. But ya.I chose the name many years ago...I was quite into the 9-3 Viggen back then. There are too many "JC"'s out there so I had to make it a little longer to avoid confusion ;)
