Muzz
New member here! Sorry if this has been covered a bunch but I just picked up a 2000 V70R that has a problem with long cranking times before actually starting...Once it finally does start up though it runs like a dream. It has this issue whether it’s a hot start or cold. I pulled codes p1332 and p0422 with my generic scanner. I looked them up online and it comes back as the cvvt solenoid for p1332 and an evap leak for p0422. They both need to be fixed but are these codes the source of my hard starting issue or what else should I be looking at?
Ihatespeedbumps
Very likely fuel pressure related. Hook up a gauge to the fuel rail and check pressure 20 minutes after shutting off engine. Should be no less than 3 bar. If so your fuel pump check valve is faulty (very common)
bmdubya1198
My 2000 R does the same thing, it cranks for longer than it should before starting. It's most likely the check valve in the fuel pump that has failed. It seems to be very common on AWD P80s. Take care of that VVT code too (most likely needs a new solenoid), that could potentially contribute to the long cranking issue. However, it's more than likely fuel related.
