Bay13
Although I own my personal scan tool I chose the 1995 when buying a used one, mainly cause of the diagnostic sockets right there, and most of the codes are in my head by now.
spottieottie
FYI, I've bought the fobs off of EBay for my S70. I bought them brand new for $20 shipped, two of them. But I did have to pay an hour of labor to have them reprogrammed @ $84 and I am sure it took total of 10 minutes max to do. Oh well I saved $200+ by buying them on EBay. RWagin
Programming requires you turn the igniton on and off 5 times in a row in a 10 second period, the the ignition on once the flashing starts. when the alarm light on the dash is flashing you push a button on the remote and if there is a second, third or fourth you push a button on the other remotes. The flashing will slow once the signal is recieved from the fob (make sure the batteries are good) When the light stops flashing turn the ignition off and remove the key, check to make sure all is in order. That is what I did to program the two remotes that I got with my car. I hope this helps someone in the future.
snorrih
This all makes more sense when you keep in mind that you are NOT programming the fobs, you are programming the receiver in the car to accept the fobs.My €0.02.Snorri H.
thebpc
When you program remotes, do you actually turn on and off the engine 5 times, or you just turn the ignition key to get only your electrical system on.Also I do not see my red light on the dash blinking ever. Is it possible it is dead or disabled? This is on a 98 s70Thanks

PyROZen
i just got a new FOb off ebay, same one i orginially had till i washed it. anyways, i tried flipping the key on and off 5 times but the LED on the dash doesn't do a thing, and the remote won't program. I noticed my LED is very erratic in the way it flashes, sometimes its even on while i'm driving. could this module have gone bad in my car? I had a remote initally and the LED was erractic but that FOB worked.lee

Guest CPT Danified
Holy Crap! I got a aftermarket FOB on Ebay from keylessrideoutlet. It was only $38 and it comes with instructions. On my 96 I turned the ignition on and off 5 times and my alarm LED didn't do anything but it still took the programming. And I know my LED works cause it comes on when I lock the doors. The only downside is that I have to press the button on the remote for about a second and a half before the car reacts. But for $38 I can live with that.
