Rinze
Hey guys, Im looking into another head for a B5244s and found one that looks identical apart from mistery Torx bolts in te cam cover. I was wondering what is the function of these bolts and would it be a problem to swap this head and cam cover on my V70n that does not originally have these bolts? EDIT: Ok so far I think I found that this means that this is a head with solid lifters instead of the hydraulic on my current head. I guess that means that just swapping the complete head and cams + cover should work just fine right? EDIT 2: Now i'm a bit confused. My V70 is a 2003 2.4i model. This car should also have the solid lifters right? So is it basically the same head only the head pictured below uses some kind of inspection ports to check for valve clearance as where for my current head this would done with the cam cover removed?? Volvo must have added or removed these ports somehere between 2001-2008? Thanks
Ihatespeedbumps
Correct, those Torx screws are for checking valve lash with the cam cover on. The early engines had them and the late ones did not, I'm not sure when the change occurred. Yes your 03 head should be solid lifters.
