Hey Seamus here!

Seamus (sh'ay-mes) Irish form of James, Yes this is my name, not a screen name, porn name, stage name or prison name.

What can I tell you all here? I will start with the basics; when little boys and little girls are born they have difer…………..OK! Not that basic…..

I am 38, I live in Santa Monica. I work full time as a Volvo mechanic at an independent shop blocks from my house. I have been a Volvo master tech for over ten tears and before that I was a Ferrari tech. I am an ASC master, aircraft A&P, as well as a California Smog tech. I worked at dealers for about 10 years and tired of the crap. I do the occasional TV or photo spot anywhere in the world they may want to pay me. I am also a commercial pilot flying banners, skytyping, sight seeing, photo planes, and the occasional air show aerobatic routine. As you can tell from some of my posts I love to fly and every thing airplanes. My mother and father were both pilots and afflicted me at a very young age. Speaking of young my father had a Volvo P-544 back in the day, I always though it was a Volkswagen till I got old enough to know better. I fell in love with racing as all high school boys do and took a job as a race shop fabricator and later car crew. I have done some real race driving as well as motorcycle road racing. Anything that is fast and dangerous is good with me.

I have taught auto mechanics and just enjoy helping people with mechanical problems. I love to write though I can’t spell my name if the ambient temp drops below about 78F (25c)..

Some of you may know about my car. I have a 98 V70R AWD, a few years ago I put a, hot off the press, M66 in it. I have done lots of mods but most are vary subtle but useful. 302 drilled rotors up front and drilled vented rotors in the rear. TME ECU flash as well as lots of other goodies here and there. I spend most of my time working on my “stunt plane” a 1100 lb 325 hp Christen Eagle biplane. I use this for air show work and teaching aerobatics and thrills. You have not lived till you open the throttle on a 325hp 540ci (8.8 liter) motor in a 1100lb airplane I also fly a Cessna 180...

Hi,

Have grown up in South Florida and been on VS for a few years... always been seen as the kid 'round these parts and constantly messed with accordingly  .

First car I learned on was an '88 Volvo 740 GLE 5-spd, since then it seems as though Volvo has been part of my life. As a baby, my parents owned a pair of 240 Turbo Wagons, my favorite place to be was in the rear-facing 3rd row seat. At 16, got my first car, it was a 1996 Volvo 850 Turbo. Really loved that car, did quite a bit of work to it. Over the course of 3 years during which I learned insurmountable amounts about these cars, the 850 Turbo was my test bed. It saw 5 different turbos, 6 different software maps/ECU tunes. Learned tons from that car, in its peak running condition it would make upwards of 275 WHP on 18 PSI and trap upwards of 105 MPH in the 1/4 mile. Best 1/4 time was in the high 13's as traction was always an issue. Amazing memories with that car that will stay with me for the rest of my life. On the night of August 15, 2004 it suffered a wrongful death, to which this day I still feel at fault. It was like losing a family member.

With classes starting back up a couple of weeks later, the search was on for a replacement. I had always wanted a manual turbo, and out of the blue received information about a 98 S70 T5 Manual in Georgia. Called the seller later on that day and bought a plane ticket for the next morning. Drove it down and the rest is history. Numerous modifications have been made to the car... suspension, brakes, cosmetic, and engine. It is really a remarkable car and constantly puts a smile on my face.

Currently a college student studying international relations and international business. Always glad to offer a helping hand when I can, feel free to PM me or email me whenever/about whatever. About 2 years ago, I started up a company with a friend helping offer deals on various Volvo parts. I'm glad to see that we're still in business and helping out when we can. If you need help on finding a part or want to get a deal, feel free to shoot me a PM or email me - jessaye@gmail.com.

Thanks!

I grew up in the PNW and have spent 5 years as an expat in Germany in China, and speak both languages. This time abroad caused a shift in general car tuning preferences for me. I have a wife and two children and work for a computer software company. I like what typical bland American tastes don't like: wide and staggered wheels, spacing, stretched tires, boeser blick, subtle body mods, debadging, de-spoilering and smoked lights. I could care less if my car has 500hp, as long as it is respectably fast, comfortable and quiet. In my old age, I have found a need for good lighting, generally involving multiple pairs of HIDs and projectors. So much so in fact that both of my cars have projector fogs and headlights with HIDs, earning me the distinct title of "Projector Gadget."

I think flat black is the new rice.

Here is the current car (yes, those are replica Ferrari wheels):

My old car (yes, those are replica Mercedes parts):

I like to draw criticism with my modification choices - without resorting to typically abnoxious means, such as graphics, body kits, altezza lights or aluminum rear spoilers. All that said, I am generally pretty knowledgeable on everything cosmetic- and detailing-related. Please contact me if you have any questions about restoring paint, bumper trim, interior, engine compartment detail, lights, etc. I try to help as much as possible.

Hello

My name is David, I am 37 years old. I have been a professional mechanic since 1987. I have seen many changes in the auto industry over the years and this can always be a challenge staying on top of things. I have been under the hood of many things, we'll say from Alpha to Yugo(remember them).

In 1993 I opened my own 1 man shop and started to sorta specialize in Volvo/Saab. I do other models as well but I really like my swedish cars and try to keep a clientel based on them.

I stumbled upon Volvospeed back in the early days while helping out on a Saab board. A fellow enthusiast referred me to the site, I lurked for awhile then joined as member 170. Volvospeed has come a long way since then and I am glad to help out here. I'm not perfect nor do I know everything, however I try to answer threads to the best of my ability in order to give the poster positive results and information.

My screen name here is the same name I have used for many years on other boards which started because I had A.E.D (aggressive emoticon disorder) I constantly used ;) this guy.

I've been happily married for 8yrs with a son who is 6yrs and shares my intrests as well. I have been restoring an 1852 Stick Italinate Victorian home for the past 10+ years(mostly by myself, that's why it's taking so long) I really enjoy it!

I also have great intrest in antique's especially Indiana Glass HON's(if you know what they are) and a passion for trains and model railroading. I am currently working on a large scale outdoor railroad. I also love fishing and beer!!

Currenly I am helping Charles and Volvospeed by doing some write-up's for the Bay 13 section. This is a fantastic site for the Volvo enthusiast and I'm happy to be a part of it.

Hi, my name is Mike R. i'll be 40 this year. I'm the proud parent of three cool kids. My oldest loves corvettes but i'll work on him.

I'm pretty new to Volvo's. i've owned three Toyota 4runners and two sequoia's among a ford escort GT, saturn sl, miata mx5, a super cool 81 2sp honda civic. . I'd probably still be driving a Toyota if i didn't despise the new 4runner body, plus the price of gas going sky high. My first volvo is 04V70R. I really love the car and still have it. I bought a 98 V70R a couple of months ago as my new daily driver. I've pretty much done stage 0 with the help of this site. I plan on upgrading the turbo,DP and chip it sooner or later.

To pay for all this fun i work for a flooring dist. based out of Harrisburg,Pa. On a daily basis I call on flooring retailers in the Pittsburgh,pa area. Its a racquet like anything else. I graduated college with a degree in Economics, which hasn't helped me one bit.lol. I went into a manager training program with Color tile after college. Did that for 5.5 years and got a job with Mohawk ind. as a territory manager selling carpet. Hung out there for 6.5 years and then went to work for a ceramic tile importer. This was a pretty cool job but i traveled a ton and with three small kids and a wife working full time i had to change jobs. I've been with my current company for over a year now and its pretty cool.

I have enough knowledge about cars to really screw somebody up so if you need tech help i'm not your guy. I promise to try and help you though.

mike

Been hangin out here for about a year and a half. I work for a dealer in the Seattle area as a Tech. Didn't really get into Volvos until I started at the dealer, but now I am knee deep. I am also a semi-proud graduate of WyoTech which really got me started on this whole car thing. I've always loved them, but was never much of a hands on until I graduated. I've owned a number of cars starting with my 90 Audi 90. Since then I've had an 86 Olds Cutlass Ciera, 1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, 2003 Ford Ranger, 1989 Plymouth Voyager 5spd and finally my 85 245 DL. I have owned 3 or 4 but am still stuck on my first one seen here:

I have taken some flack for it not being a turbocharged car, but I stading my ground. I have always been a fan of not doing what every else is doing and since most 240 owners are adding turbos I am going to keep it NA. It has been a challenge to get power out of it, but it is still quite fun to drive. Oh and I love putting random stickers on my car for meets and shows, lol. Even though I drive a RWD car, I feel I know most about the newer cars. I'm still learing every day but I feel that I have a pretty good handle on things and help as much as I can. If you guys have a question, post it up and I'll do my best to answer!

I have also taken over presidential duties to the VCOA NW Volvospeed chapter and need to put together my cabinet :P

I don't have many other interests other than cars, but I do enjoy a good beer now and then. I am also one of Seattle's best fairweather sports fans.
