Guest Guest_gvpierce_*
I have a 1999 S80 and the sun roof has developed a rattle on bumpy roads. It is fine when it is fully open or tilted up. I did notice that when in the closed position, the rear side of the sun roof moves downward when I press on it from the outside of the car. It is as if the mechanism is not holding it tightly. Is there anyone that has experienced this, and if so, is it something that is adjustable? Thanks
starfish
You might want to start by tilting the glass open and pull the black pleated side panels off at the hinge area. Check if the T-25 torx screws that hold the glass to the cable guides became loose. If so tighten them up and grab the glass at the rear opened edge and try and see if there is any movement up and down. Alot of play usually means the sunroof cable guides have cracked or are worn and need replacement.
Guest whitecw
Our 2003 XC70 had this same problem. It got to be so annoying that we finally made a note of it at our dealer. I believe they replaced one of the rubber seals and all has been well since.
Guest Guest_gvpierce_*
Thank you for your replies. I will check out the torx screws as soon as I can. If the cables need to be replaced, do you know how difficult a job that is?Thanks again
