It took two years of ownership to figure our the car was previously in a bad accident (not listed in carfax). It must have been close to being totaled, as I figured the engine was replaved as part of the repair. That car had electrical problems caused by some chafing of the main wire harness near the front of the engine. I did not look forward to trying to replace it. That is when I traded in (I could not in good consience sell it privately) as part of getting the '03 V70.Happy Swedish Motoring,André'03 V70 2.4T

Guest Guest
Let me guess, the evaporator??←Ya, was the evaporator. I bought the car used in the winter and never checked the AC, but come spring time it didn't work and it was determined that the evaporator was the problem. Car was out or warrenty at that time, but the dealer and I came to a very fair agreement on a replacement price. The dealer ordered a replacement evaporator from Volvo, put it in, put it all back together, and the new one leaked too! They had to take it all apart again, order a new one, and install it. The dealer ended up doing it all for no charge, and gave me a free loaner for the entire time!

jens94850
Sorry, that's me (didn't check the forum for a week). My 94 850 has around 280k miles now. The car still has original engine and tranny. Third rear engine seal and that's the most major work done. I am starting to have some electrical gremlins though.250K - 300K-1 votewhat kind of car is that?←
billr99
My '96 R has 196K kms and I just put 1800 kms on a 21 hour drive to Ohio and back yesterday. Runs sweet as a nut at 150km/hr no problem and still solid as new. Just bought a '98 V70 with 296K kms for cheap. This one has already had a bunch of things done to it, but it has a leaking RMS that my dealer is going to fix. But the body, interior and engine are pretty good all things considered. Has a few rattles which I'll sort out, but as my wife's bop around town and haul the dogs car, it will be perfect.Cheers,
