Hey anyone in the Seattle Redmond area have a recommendation for a good mechanic. I need to have a check engine light checked and was planning on just taking it to barrier but thought I would poll the masses. Thanks!

OH NO! not the dealer..

take your car to a shucks or somethig, and have them read your codes.. then come back and report them here!

Well, I personally take my car to Car Tender on Capital Hill. My brother and I have been taking our cars to them for the past 4 years.

Kevin is probably going to point out the "Dealership / Independant Review" section, but here is what is listed under Barrier Volvo

And here is the direct link to the shop review section:

Pacific Area Shops (West Coast)

Edit: if the dealer does it for free and is a convenient place for you, go there. My local dealer is 5 blocks away and doesn't charge anything, so I would just go to them for CEL's.

Thanks for the input, my previous car was a camry and greg's in bellevue would charge me $75 just to tell me whats wrong when that darn light came on.

Updated sig ;)

Well, you can call into Barrier's service dept. and ask if they charge for it :P

If they do, go with Kevin's advice and just go to Shucks and get the code then tell us.

Come by Bel Red Rd and 134th, and I will tell you what the code is and reset the light for free. :) You have 1 hour to make it though. :)

Edit: ODBII code reader, don't leave home without it. :)
