95 Volvo 850 T5r Transmission

I have a 95 Volvo 850 T5R for many years, it is a fun car to drive. However, recently the auto transmission has slipped on 1-2 gears with the check engine and arrow light on. So I bought a 99 S70 T5 auto transmission to replace on my T5R. Before install, I found out there are 2 extra sensor wires on the S70 transmission which the T5R transmission doesn’t have. I think one is for rpm and other one is unknown. I have no idea to do with these wires. Anyone replace the transmission before? Can I still put it on? Or what can I do with these 2 sensor wires to make the S70 transmission work on my T5R, Please help!!

Do you know that for a fact? That's not what I've read. I've ready you can use the 70-series trannies no problemo.

So what can I do for for 2 extra wires? Just don't connect with anything? and What are they for? Please Help!!

I'm confident in myself for the simple fact that I've had my tranny replaced 2 times, and one time an attempt was made to put in a 97 tranny but the sensors simply do not line up right with 94-95 models. One member here did get a post 95 tranny in, but his car faced problems in which were unremedied.

In my opinion a rebuild is your best bet...You can basically make the tranny bullet proof if you get high enough quality parts...But a regular rebuild is still very good...I wish I would've gotten a rebuilt tranny instead of a used, the money is deffinitely worth a rebuild. :)

Good luck

Take any route that suits you best...

Whatever works into your budget, whether it be getting a case of e-bay and shipping it, getting a used tranny, getting a manual...That's all up to you, your question has been answered, now you must figure out what is best to do

I purchased a used tranny for my 1995 850T off of this board about a year ago. Very good deal. Cost me $400, I think, with shipping included. Put it in my car and it has been bulletproof ever since.

You can swap 2-3 junkyard trannys with the same funds for a Volvo part from the dealer. Tough to beat those odds.

I did my best to see if a S70 Tranny would bolt up, as I found one at the local junkyard. The ECU was different, the leads were different, and the valve bodies were different. No way to make the square peg fit a round hole....
