Owned
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores...catalogId=10114←Does anyone have these who can comment on them? It says "custom fit" which usually means that you have to make it fit. Maybe I misunderstand. Although, if I had to spend the time to make something work, I'd rather go with exe's flavor. Zappo
Cool. But just a note HID and Halogen projectors aren't made equal. So if your intention is to go HID with a projector retrofit I would get a HID projector that uses a D2S capsule.Nicely done.←Not this again. Exactly what is the difference between the projectors then?
StickThatClutch
Not this again. Exactly what is the difference between the projectors then?←Its the fact that halogen projectors are made for halogen based bulbs. Figure H7, 9006 etc are not the same size as a normal D2S HID capsule. The way a halogen bulb is design much of the anti-glare comes from the bulb design itself and with an HID it is done entirely by the projector (save for D2R which have a strip for antiglare in reflector use). Thus, rebased HID capusles made to fit a 9006 or H7 (there is not such thing as an OEM 9006 HID application, all these bulbs started life as a D2S and were hacked down) often have issues lining up a proper beam pattern a halogen projector. You may still get the dreaded glare is if you were to pop these into your stock halogen reflectors. So a true HID retrofit will use a D2S bulb and projector combo. drPheta
HID in a halogen projector will still yield hotspots. How do I know? I've done it, and my Integra used to have HIDs in the stock projectors. There's a reason Integra guys are swapping out their halogen projectors for Valeo or Bosch projectors. The HID in halogen projector isn't anywhere near as bad as HID in halogen reflector in terms of hotspots, but it's no where near as good as in an HID projector.Just my 0.
Mesoam
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores...catalogId=10114←what the hell are those? how have these never been brought up!??! Are people not clicking the link?

However, if it's a good projector it won't be too bad. I have shoved a D2S bulb into a Valeo projector with superb results.
exexpat
Do I really need to post more night time lighting pics. I don't have any issues. In the process of rebasing, they put the hot spot in the sam position as the halogen one. I was sure to check. This was another reason I waited for the write-up, c'mon guys who drove to iPd and back, do I have glare?

Boomin850
Valeo/Bosch/whatever...they seem to be fine. I figure Exexpat did it the cheapest way possible and it still looks great. Show me the two retrofits side by side (valeo/bosch vrs CRX halogen projector) and lets see if there really is any difference at all.-MIKE D
InlineTurbo
Personally speaking, blacked out lights on a Volvo just don't look all that right. Just my opinion of course.←When the only thing that isn't black on your car are the headlights this rocks! Thanks so much for the writeup. I'll definitely have to add this to my list. This will make my car look awesome from the front!!!!!

Otherwise OEMs are wasting money using exactly the same thing some company in China makes for 1/100th of the price. Once again, it's like comparing a non-name brand camera lens and a Canon L-glass lens. Both will take photos... but one will outperform.
maiku
so the general consensus is that NOT to deflute the total area in front of the projector?why is that?because of light output?
