Monster Caps And 12v Remote Control Kits

Recommended Posts

Just let me know when you want the remote kit. They come with a basic wiring diagram for doing underbody neons. It's a pretty simple install.

If your lights don't dim you probably don't need a cap. A strong battery and alt should be enough. Don't forget to check how strong your stock alt is though, they do wear out.

Just to add to the discusion: Once charged, your cap has the same voltage as your battery (1.5 volts on the battery means 1.5 volts on the cap) and the amount of charge is dictated by the size of the cap. A big cap will even out your voltage by absorbing the peaks and filling in the valleys. Caps will also make AC current seem like it's flowing because of this.

What did you go with?

I'm running Optima Yellow 34/78 in my 850 and a no name $70. job in my S60.

I was looking at the Optimas on ebay and noticed that the prices with shipping are a few dollars more than going to Autozone and not giving them a core (they only give $8 for your old batt). <_<

I picked up a battery made by a local battery maunfacturer from the tractor store that I get most of my miscellaneous parts from. It was only about $70 for something thats comparable to an optima yellow top so I'm happy.

it stores electrons for when they're needed most, dumping a huge charge instead of a steady flow.

you need it if:

when you're at a stop light, and the begining of brass monkey comes on, and your sub hits so hard it shuts your car off.

In our 850's we need to up the alternator to a 200amp and put a large battery in it, maybe two, and say ehll with the cap. $100+ for a cap, battery=$150-$200 for a good one.
