So whats to come of SwedeDeamonI?

I posted about it earlier, http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=23599

Not to long ago I decided to change the car to a newer model. Sincs most if not all aftermarket parts fit the S70 I thought this would make a nice candidate.

Used ME 7 cars are still pretty expensive here, specially if you want a turbo model.

Think prices between 12K and 18K Euro's. '99-2000 models go between 9600 and 18K Euro's for non turbo models at the dealers at the moment.

For this reason I decided to rebuild the 850 back to how it was, remove the IC, KW stuff, turbo, manifold and some other stuff and see if I can sell the car.

In the mean time I could search for a good replacement which I though would take some time.

I spotted this car on a German site where it was offered for export..

In our country we have a place where all the state owned transportation items and also any kind of other items are offered for auction. From time to time these Volvo Police vehicles show up but ofted one has to place a bid on more than one car, often 2 or three. In the end they show up at small retailers or they are offered for export mainly because of the condition these cars are in.

What this means is that often they sell for less than half the regular prices of such vehicles.

Problem was that the Dutch Royal Police Service changed their policy a few years ago.

In the past they used Porsche Targa's and later a lot of tuned Volvo T5's.

Later on Highway partol changed to diesel versions and NA version, made them look all the same and added only a few T5 models which were then tuned to ~280 bhp by a company named RICA.. ;-)

T5's are very strong highway patrol cars any in the past they could realize a very high "hit rate" catching speeders. Even the Porsches and other fast cars they managed to catch with these T5's.

Problem is that there were plenty of 850T5's offered but the S70's were only offered sporadicly.

Also the S70 2.5T has proven to perform well enough when tuned. Speeds in the Netherlands came down a lot over the last 5 years so real peak power wasn't the issue anymore.

Currently only a few S60T5's are in use and as of early this year also a few R models which go as unmarked police cars or video surveillance.

Nice! Us ME7 guys will be looking forward to what you come up with. :)

Also, if you would be so kind to post your impressions of the KWs on the 850 vs the 70. Some of us are going to be a doing a little suspension comparison and would like to know if there are minor differences between the two cars that would change the ride/handling.

Congrats on the new car. Your kid seems to confused to why there are so many Volvos. :)

Bosh Motronic ME 4.3, 4.4 (850) and >99 ME7

of course there's a lot of things that are not directly related to ME7 but that were introduced at the same time, just do a search
