850 Stylzz
Is there any reason to replace the springs (old stock with new stock) while you are down there? Seems that it might make the install even faster, but I guess the main question is do the priginal stock springs ever wear out? It seems that you can purchase new scantech ones for like $120 for the set. Worthwhile? Or just pissing money away?
lux850
Thanks guys. I'll certainly check the prices out for the Bilsteins and konis. What model Koni's should I be looking at as a comparison?
steve s
think it should be the sport, the adjustable one...no reason to get the non-adjustable koni...
lux850
Ok , now for a little web crawling for the parts and hopefully that'll do the trick.Feeling better already! :D
JehovArob
When you do these suspension upgrades, does it make the suspension stiffer or looser? Because, in my car, I feel just about every bump in the road, and I hate it. But, in my dad's car (92 Subaru Legacy), you hardly feel any of the road. Very nice ride. So, what is more correct? XtremePsionic
If you don't do anything other than koni shocks to your car, the ride will be smoother + handling better. Strut tower brace will cut down on a little front end vibrations on rough roads as well.Everything else will bring better handling + a harsher ride. When you upgrade the suspension to make it handle better it typically will have a harsher ride.
JehovArob
Where can I get these shocks and how much would they run to replace all 4? Is this something I can do on my own? And will I notice a large difference in the ride quality without loosing too much handling?
jb7073
A lot of people order their shocks/struts from shox.comIPD has them both too.I know taylorautomotive.com has the bilstiens. Not sure about the Konis though
Mike850
I have read on a couple forums people reporting that Bilstein Touring struts raise the front end of the car (850 model) about 1/2 to 1 inch!! I have spoken to the Manager at Shox.com and he laughed and said it was not true. I have searched all morning long looking at "KONI vs. BILSTEIN" and I haven't heard that anywhere. HAs anyone had the experience of struts raising the front end of your car? I am prepared to order either a set of four Bilstein Tourings or a set of four KONI SPORTS for $206 more. Any recomendations? Comments??
MrLorence
My HD's raised my front a little..idk if it was an inch..

Comments??You can't compare Bilstein Tourings (which are OEM-like) to Koni Sports. In my humble opinion - only gas (i.e. Bilstein Sport) for rear and Koni Sport for front. The ride is nice and smooth, but then when you wanna take on the curvies, your only a small adjustment away
Greenchunks
the FSDs are not adjustable, thats the truth. But they are also fantastic shocks. I'd recommend them over the bilsteins for sure! Much more compliant ride and still handle well when you really push the car.
