Swedish Mike
What is the tensel strength and yield of stock connecting rods? Has anyone cryo-treated or shotpillened the stock rods as opposed to buying aftermarket ones?←When you open up the engine it will cost you a load of money, bearings, sealings, gaskets and work.I would never do all this and use the stock rods, you can make them a little stronger if you cryo or shot them but not worth the trouble in our engines. The stock pistons are good but the rods are bad.../Mike
Guest DougK
shotpeening rods would be worth maybe 10% more strength. Not much.
volflo
The stock pistons are good but the rods are bad.../Mike←having said this, mike, what aftermkarket rods would work with stock pistons?I would be looking for a solution where you simply exchange the oem rods for stronger ones and keep all the rest. is that feasible? I'm with Mike... if you took the time to rip open your engine.. you best be replacing things with Aftermarket parts.

My rods are tested to 700 Nm without a problem.Simple as that!/Mike
EricF
You can probably get SPM rods shipped to your door for not much more than shot-peening or cryo-treating stock rods... And they would be tons stronger.Like Mike said, it's a lot of money to take the block apart to get to them and to put it back together. If you're on that kind of budget and have that kind of time, do it the right way.
