(n)A-GAME
so the boyfriend of someone who works at my office is selling some audio components, and I wanted to ask the expert opinions to decide if I should buy...2 amps, brand is "Profile" or "California", Model number is A600X? They are 600 watts, bridgeable with two channels, and according to him, have some sort of built in limiter for not blowing any speakers. They were white with some pink writing, and were missing fuses and wiring.2 12 inch Pioneer subwoofers, in a large box.He said I would need both amps for the subs. I was wondering also, what would the effect of buying one amp and hooking it up to the stock HU (can I even do that? It's the SC-811 base) or maybe the Alpine HU I'm looking at (it's one of the 2005 9820s, not sure on which model just yet) would be. He wants 100 for each amp, and 150 for the woofers...but I think he's negotiable, so price isn't a huge deal.Let me know what you all think. theunderlord
what's the model number of the subs?
Chris_R
Those are some OLD amps... 100 each is a bit much. 100 for the pair would be reasonable. They were decent, but certainly not top-of-the-line. Think 'high-end' flea-market fare.
maiku
yes you can make RCA preouts from the "AMP" connector at the back of the SC811there's a pinned thread that tells you howand i've never heard of those brands besides pioneer, but then again i aint an audiophile

Chris_R
Profile was one of those decent amps. Made good power for the $. The California series (white with pink, not blue) was ok. I'd run them in a pinch.
(n)A-GAME
the alpine is the 9843....if that changes anything.also...not sure of the pioneers model number....they looked kinda old, in a ginormous box (I have never seen such a big speaker box, ever), and they were 12's....that's about it. Chris_R
Skip the subs... They were probably the old Free-air subs. LOL! Spend your 150 on a newer/better sub. I got my Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 from Bing, with box (both used) for 75 bucks shipped and it is plenty.
(n)A-GAME
that's a good idea, these subs in their box took up about half of this guy's mercury sable trunk, and I'd prefer something a little sharper anyways.
crc1185
Yeah... I would not spend so much on these subs and amp. If you are lookin to spend a moderate amount of money, I like my sony stuff and would recommend. If you've got the money though, there's nothing like fosgate punch! Will this "huge box" even fit in your trunk? haha
