A higly tuned t5 engine is able too kick the stock Merc 500's butt, M3 and maybe the M5 (408bhp) are beatable too, the 600 and 55AMG are in a leage of there own (new M5 will be there too (5 ltr V10 with 500bhp)).

Still with the tuned t5 you can surprise a 600 or 55AMG, they will not be prepaired for a fast volvo.

Your friend's reviews could not be any more precise, Chuck. All new Mercedes, relative to their acceleration off-the-line, are very impressive once they get going. That is exactly what they are made for...autobahn acceleration in uber comfort and rock-solid stability. The upper models are simply insane on the highway, be it in NA V8, SC V6, SC V8, or TT V12 form. Hit kickdown at 60 in a new supercharged 55 AMG or 600, and by the time to gather yourself back together from the sensation as if you were rear-ended by a locomotive, the speedometer is flying passed 120. In short acceleration bursts in gaps of light traffic, where my C70 would hit 90 and I'd let off, a similar burst in an SL55 would run you up to 140+ requiring you to slam on the brakes since you are coming up so fast on traffic. When the speed governor kicks in at ~155, you are literally thrown foreword in your seat because even at that speed, the car is still accelerating very hard. The sensation can only be described as the hand of God pushing you forward. These cars simply gobble up highway miles since accelerating at such speed is so effortless and comfortable. As notes in the test above, the SL55 slaughtered it's closest competitors on the top-end: The fastest factory cars Lamborghini and Porsche produce.

Mom's SLK320 scoots pretty quick off the line... its quicker out of the hole than my s60, but about even from a roll

woo! ;)

Here some Merc AMG and 600 data

Type, Weight(kg), Power (bhp), Torque(nm)

CLK55AMG , 1595, 367, 510

SLK55AMG, ????, 367, 510

SL55AMG, 1855, 500, 700

SL600, 1925, 500, 800

CL55AMG, 1905, 500, 700

CL600, 1975, 500, 800

E55AMG, 1735, 476, 700

S55AMG, 1885, 500, 700

S600, 1945, 500, 800

If you look at this data you'll be able to keep up and/or beat the CLK and SLK stock if your t5 engine brings more then 320 whp and more then 500 nm torque and that's a lot of tuning but it possible. Forget the other 55AMG or 600 engines they are just too powerfull.[

so here are vids (same vid diff quality). friend of mine did it without me knowing.

volflo, what's the web address on the side of the car in the vid? Also, does that auto shop have a website...looks like they have some Volvo "stuff" we probably don't here in the states. I recently got a copy of the D&W katalog, but they don't have much for Volvo's...now if you got a VW, BMW or MB you got it made!

you must have got some wrong data here. the e55t amg weight figures i know are around 1997 kg. and looking further downwards: i think its impossible that an s600 tt stays below two tons.

as for acceleration from 100 to 200k: the e55 does need 9,5. it takes me ONE second more. 10.6 +/- 0.2secs is what i got my stopwatch (three times). and even if i did only did 11 secs (two people on the car) that would still quite close to the e55.

remember: my car weighs exactly 1295 kg that is 700 (!) kg ~ 1600 (!!!) lbs less than the merc. then those 150 hp the merc has more make a smaller gap.

i can only repeat: see the vid where my car is slowly passing in third (that should 40 to 45 miles) and listen when he shift to fourth anf later in fifth. for those who have a manual: u know that u shift in 5th at around 105 to 115 miles. What is the elapsed time from passing and shifting to fifth?

Sounds like BSR exhaust to me.

its a three inch stainless from FERRITA. 3" inch from turbo to end, no cat at the mom. its a swedish group A racing exhaust. only a hand full were made. the axhaust on my car belongs to the owner of mr sweden motorsport (who i project my car together with (see mr-tuning.de))

the exhaust used to be on his 850 T5-R (visit the showroom)
