Guest White Wagon
Hi:I've got a 98 V70 GLT Wagon with SC816 unit and the external 6 disk changer in the glove box.I recently got the SkyFi2 XM unit and car kit, and I'm struggling with the best way to connect the audio output. I'm currently using the cassette adapter which came in the Delphi Skyfi2 car kit, which sounds OK, but the Darn Volvo cassete deck keeps trying to reverse while the adapter is in use. I've tried a different adapter and it's a little better, but it's still happening, especially after a few minutes. The cassette deck had hardly ever been used before the XM arrived, so I don't think it's a wear issue.Ideally I'd use the Blitzsafe adapter, but because I have the external changer that idea won't work. The on-board wireless FM modulator built into the SkyFi2 is terrible. The sound quality is poor on all available frequencies.Has anyone tried the Delphi wired FM modulator (SA10103 I think)? How does it sound and how do you handle the fact that the wagon has two antenna cables on the head unit?By the way, after trying to mount the SkyFi2 on the air vent, on the dash, and in the ashtray area of the console I gave up and got a gooseneck mount that attaches to the seat bolt. It's the cat's meow in my opinion. help!Keith
prasamin
I had the Delphi wired FM mod, and it sounded OKAY....volume level wasn't all that great and sound wasn't all that clear, but WAYYYYYYYYY improved over the cassette or wireless, believe me! Also, it allowed me to hardwire the power on the unit so no cig lighter crap!!oh, and what do you mean by two antenna cables?
