aikitect
In a post on another Volvo forum, a 2000 V70-R owner commented that our car (I have one too) has a 5-speed adaptive transmisson. The 5-speed I knew about. The adaptive part is news to me.If this is true, than can the memory be reset so that I have a "clean slate" by which the car can learn my driving style?Ideally, I could reset the settings every weekend to clear out the memory of the heavy traffic crawl from my daily commute.Coming from a stright drive, I am having a dickens of a time getting used to a car the shifts into 5th at the earliest possible moment - often taking the rpm's to below 2,000 - not good for someone who likes to drive relatively aggressively.Thanks. DEWFPO
On our 98 S90, the adaptive feature of the trans. can be cleared by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. This is the technique the Volvo dealer used. Your 2000 is more sophisticated and may have an easier way. DEWFPO
Bay13
There is actually a program on our diagnostic cart that allows us to reset the adaptives, go into an adaptive mode, and drive the car to get it started with adaptation. I don't think removing power from your TCM will work on your 2000, I could be wrong, try disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes and give it a try, won't hurt anything.
