Slater
Don't tell me to search either. I've read the post about the headlight blink mod when you lock the doors. It's a confusing mess. There is 10 different ways to do it, 10 different wires people say they tap into like some sort of guessing game. It works for some, not for others. So what's the bottom line? Does someone make a little module or board or something that you connect to 2 or 3 known wires and that's the end of that? What's the 100% foolproof guarenteed way to do it?by the way, if you have the Alarm II or III you can program this yourself. It's easy - I found all the info in VADIS. But the "standard" alarm does not offer the option to blink the turn signals when you lock the doors because it's not a real car alarm.Sooo, what's the scoop?I also plan on tying into the turn signals and hooking up a little piezo buzzer as well, so it beeps as well as blinks (like on most newer cars). Jaxx
odd, when I installed my alarm, I just hooked it up to the head lights, good enough for me, besides, the loud locking of the doors is fine too, along with the alarm's horn.i love my alarm, you can disable the engine if needed. Bare with me, because I do not know a whole lot about wiring and/or alarms.Couldn't you just tap into the parking lights (or) emergency flasher power wire with a relay or something to trigger those to flash X times when you lock/unlock the car.Only reason I would suggest this is because on my old car, they originally tapped into the headlight power wire, my headlights/parking lights would flash at lock/unlock, but then I installed my HIDs, so I needed them to disable the headlight flashers so they tapped into my parking lights instead of the headlights.Anyways, I hope that helps a little :P

Zappo
So, you want the headlights to flash just like the turn signals do now with the stock alarm? You can do it with HIDs, just use the brights instead of the lows.

Mesoam
i worked for a while on getting the "beep" to work...no go...i tired about 100 different capacitor combonations and nothing seemed to work. I talked to an electrical engineer from the site with no results.I know i'm just missing something simple...in the trunk there is a power/signal wire for the auto locks...you tap into those and run and external horn...now here is the problem...the power is sent to the lock for atleast 1 full second which is WAY to long for a horn, all you want is a small chirpcapaciators should do the job but so far i have found nothing to make this mod work

It's fairly big (about 2" diameter) and beeps about 2-3 times per second. So that would be enough to let me know that the car is locked. You could also use that to trip a relay tied to the turn signals.Got any details on that wire? Where is it, what color, etc? Is it on a wagon and sedan or just sedan? Is it just sitting there unused, or are you saying it actually goes to the rear lock?
550
well the problem is the beep is too long because the power supplied to it is too long. So, rabbit, had the idea of a capacitor but none of us could figure that stuff out properly. The idea was to just be able to tput a relay on the horn from the remote part that triggers the lights (so lights and horn go). WHile it did work it was just plain annoying because it was way to long and obnoxious sounding. I tried resistors, capacitors to ground to try to dissipate it. I tried everything right up to a LM 555 timer because that is just overkill imo.
maiku
what would i need to just get the beep?just a piezeo speaker?i have an aftermarket kit, so i can wire it up however i want

If the horn draws more current to create a sound, you would need a larger capacitor to feed the horn what it requires to operate. My humble apology for causing so much trouble. Theoretically, the idea should have worked. I've used this circuit on electronic equipment many times. The difference is the electrical circuits I use this design on don't require high current demands like a horn does. I suspect that a 1 farad capacitor would have yielded positive results. Take care...Rabbit
Serge
Did you try my howto? That one works flawlessly if you take your time to wire everything up.I can definitely make a module to blink twice on unlock and once one lock, but there is way too little demand for me to work on it (unless I was doing it for myself). You can use an LM555 timer setup to have it blink quickly.
