What About The '95 850 Glt?

I've found a couple of '95 850 GLT's in the 120-140K mile range in my price range. Is there anything about that particular year? I was a litle skeptical since it seemed odd to me that I found 3 of the same year. How reliable are the turbos/when do they usually need to be replaced?

Thanks!

95 850 GLTs aren't turbo charged. The GLT series didn't get a turbo (LPT) till 1997. Nevertheless, a 1995 850 GLT is a pretty good car. Just make sure there are no oil leaks, timing belts have been replaced, stuff like that. But I'd get a turbo :)

I think I'm getting old! You guys shake your fists at the damned kids in their Civics while doing 50 in the left lane with your blinker on, right?!? :P

But seriously, I've never owned a turbo with high miles, so I just don't now what to expect in the way of having to replace the turbo and extra stress on the engine. Plus I have other toys to appease my speed addiction!

Thanks for the tip that the 95 is an NA.

An important thing to look for in a high mile turbo is

1. did the owner use synthetic oil? Synthetic oil resits "coking" or building up on the oil lines going to the turbo.

2. change the oil return line, (easy fix) and you'll help eliminate a spot prone to leaks.

I had one of those. Other than lack of a turbo, it is a great fully-equipped car. Just a coincidence about finding three but that's good for you as it means there's more to choose from. Look for one that drives solid without the creaks and rattles. Hope you know how a Volvo should feel when you drive one.

Why are you guys always ragging on us N/A's? If you get one with a manual transmission it gets up and goes! :D

Sorry to ask here, since its not my thread, but I am looking at 850's as well. How SHOULD it drive? I only ever owned an old 240 - I know how that drove - hoping the 850 isn't supposed to feel similar haha.

Thanks.

Best thing to do is to test drive a few that are for sale. Volvo dealer is a good place. Even used car lots. Not the cheap ones but ones where they're asking top price for being in excellent condition. Now you have a good bench mark.
