Removing Speaker Grill, S60

Uh....so the rear speaker grills....how the heck do you remove those? I tried to look under them by seeing where the mount (looking under them in the trunk) and there is definatly a screw or two...but they are coming down and screwing in so it's impossible to get them out from the trunk it seems. So that'd be there has to be someway to get the grills off from the top? I really have no idea what's going on with them. --JP

Well...sweet...I actually always did want to know to remove the grills for the doors...but I meant to say the rear most speakers...the ones that are on the panel under the rear window...uh...it's the too woofers in the back...I think they are 8 inch...I am not sure how else to specify. If you were outside of the car and looked in through the rear window (near the trunk) you could see the two grills I'm talking about. Those are the ones I have no idea to remove  Thanks --JP

pull out the side bolsters on the rear seats, fold the seats down, then yank up on the rear deck cover and pull it towards you.

I see how the side bolsters need to be removed...I just tried to get 'em off but can't figure out how. They are definatly a bit wiggley so it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard. Any trick?

Hmm, well on my S70, you just pull the top out first, and it just lifts out...

I bet it's the same on your car.

Well...I got them off. HUGE pain sorta  -- There were two places which it had to be released: 1. the only way to begin the process is to go in the trunk and release all the plastic holder's to release the side paneling in the trunk ( the carpeted cardboard-ish stuff ) and push it down...make sure both rear seats are down. Then, if you look into this small small cavity there is a square plastic device which can be released by pushing in the side of it...that's your first goal. 2. Once it was released I had to go back to the side door so I could see the side bolster. At this time, if I pushed the bolster or knocked it back into place the thing would lock in again and it was a pain because I had to redo it once. So, with the rear plastic device un-coulpled you get about an inch or two to look in behind the bolster. Then i saw it was behind held in the side by another arm-type connector. By pushing back on the side with the arm while holding the opposite side I was able to release the back. Then it simply lifted up and was free (except the seat belt which is basically self explanatory to remove). Did the same thing for the other side so both were completely out of the way. Here is where it got tricky...I released the plastic connections that seemed to be holding the back panel into place...went to go pull it and....! yeahhh...definatly didn't move at ALL. I tried pulling up on it and down on it...left and right, every which way I could and all I ended up doing was destroying my fingers on some sharp edges. So...I figured out how to remove the side bolsters on the S60 ( and more than likely same for the S80 too ) so that's good. Still not sure how to remove the back panel, but I'm close. I'll try another day when my fingers heal up, hah. Anyways, I guess one would have to really want to replace those back woofers to actually get around to doing it. Soon though...and I'll take pic's if I do it again for people that want to do the same. --thanks for the pointer though Kevin.
