RWagin Posted June 22, 2005 Report Share Posted June 22, 2005 I'm getting an alignment on Saturday, the car has been pulling to the right a bit and it is getting frustrating. I've never had to get a car aligned before and I was curious if I should expect to see a large difference once it is done. I am anticipating the tech to suggest I get new tires but I'm holding off until the winter. (I have a set of snow Rims/tires) I will plan to put new 17" tires on before next summer season. Guest AlvinL Posted June 22, 2005 Report Share Posted June 22, 2005 Make sure you get a 4 wheel alignment. Get a before and after printout of the alignment data to verify. They'll should check that all suspension and steering components are fine before the alignment. If anything is worn, they shouldn't proceed without letting you know. If the pulling to the right is being caused by a misalignment, it should be gone. I live in a rural area with some marginal pot holed roads. Guest AlvinL Posted June 23, 2005 Report Share Posted June 23, 2005 The rear isn't adjustable but ask for the 4 wheel alignment anyways. If the rear alignment is out, they will let you know. They don't actually perform any adjustment to the rear but they will mount the alignment tool to the rear wheels to check it's alignment. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Tom Posted June 23, 2005 Report Share Posted June 23, 2005 Toe-in is adjustable in both front and rear on an 850.Sometimes pulling is caused by worn tires. If that is happening on your car then fixing the alignment will not unwear the tires - it may continue to pull even if the alignment has been done correctly. KLS Posted June 24, 2005 Report Share Posted June 24, 2005 I like the results of adding camber adjusters to the front. Mine are set at zero camber, and work well, but I'll try -.5° next time and see if wear on the outside edge of the front tires is reduced. Zappo Posted June 25, 2005 Report Share Posted June 25, 2005 I had mine aligned yesterday after I put the Weitec kit on the car on Saturday. Dropped the front by 3/4", but they said it wasn't far off at all and didn't need the camber kit. When they asked on the phone if it was lowered I said yes so they said we might not be able to get it done, but we can get it as close as possible.
