V70TSE
Hi, this probably is stupid of me to even ask, but in theory could you up the boost on the 2.4T LPT and turn it effectivley into a T5 HPT but a bit bigger, it seems as if the T5 and the 2.4T are the same engine with the same turbo (is that right) so could i up it and how would I go about doing it as if i did i gould maybe get around 240 BHP out of it maybe more as the T5 i think is arounf 250 and thats a 2.3 also where would i find the vacuum tree on the 2.4T, I have looked and i cant find it! (for a boost guage)Thanks for all your help in the past and futureRuan
Serge
The 2.4T is a LPT, which will not have as much boost at higher RPMs. Whereas the T5 is a HPT which will. You can in bring up the boost on the 2.4T but not by my.My 850 T5 definitely pulls harder at the high end than the 2.4T we have.
V70TSE
So is this limited by the turbo unit itself, or wastegate or the way the engine is designed, or have I got completely the wrong end of the stick!! :(
Mesoam
i'm not sure about the p2's but in the 850/p1 70 serries the HPT had an over all beefier build while the LPT was just a TC'd N/A motor...hmm acronym's any one?

The 2.4l engine has a 9:1 compression ratio, whereas the 2.3l has a 8.5:1.But interestingly enough, the S60R which has a HPT for some reason uses the EXACT SAME engine as the 2.4T. Whereas the HPT S60 T5 has a 2.3l. Funky, eh?
V70TSE
With regards to the S60R/V70R that engine I know has a KKK turbo but is exactly the same block, I think the difference is the crankshafts, camshafts and pistons etc are all forged and alot more beefy as they have got an extra 100BHP out the 2.4Ts block. So I now know that I may not be able to up the boost pressure enough to what the T5 is but just increse it a bit; how would i go about bringing it up, is it ECU controlled(please no) or is it something else any help would be appreciatedRuan
maiku
if you chip your stock engine, you'll be running "faster" than a stock T5stock T5: 247hp, 243tqchip 2.4t: 230hp, 275tqa chipped 2.4T has a lot more torque than a stock t5, which means faster off the linethe T5 will take the 2.4T at highway speeds thoughsome members used a HPT turbo on a LPT engine for 850, and S70 series.i'm uncertain if it would work with a 2.4T (ME7) engine type
V70TSE
Well im in a good mood as the car is working well and I just had a race with a riced Honda Civic, he thought he was so fast and screamed at me, stuff Car mate and he seemed a little peeved when I mashed the gas and overtook him I was well pleased considering im only in a 2.4T.Woo i installed my K&N today and im having great fun now. I need to get a better exhaust can anyone advise me on which to get and which chip to use to chip it as I can't wait to go that bit faster!!! P.S. That torque looks pretty juicy to me!:D
