Air could want come in the holes in the bottom of the airbox, allowing some mix of warm under hood air in with the cold from the new pipe. You might consider taping those up if you have not already. One would intuitively think the pipe from the front is high pressure and would probably force air out those holes, which might be the case, although flow dynamics is very complicated stuff, involving multiple givens. Even if the cold air is at higher pressure than the under hood air, a bit of pumping efficiency is given away to those holes as the high pressure will leak a bit, making the engine work a little harder to get the air through the filter than it would if the high side of the filter is sealed except for your honking big cold air intake.
