Tire Selection

The car had Pirelli p6000 tires on it when I bought it and now it's time to get a new set, but I'm not sure what kind to get. I have run the Michelin mxv4s on other volvos and really like them, but they are a bit pricey. The Pirelli's were pretty worn when I got the car, so I really don't know how they perform. I'm not looking for any sort of racing tire. I'm in Ohio, so we get some snow and ice in the winter, but not enough to really warrant snow tires, so I would like to get something that is a good all around tire. The fastest I really go is 85 or so, and that not very frequently. Any suggestions for a good quality tire that isn't too expensive??

Thanks,

Sam

Tire Rack.com reviews and tests are a good source of info, and they have good prices. I bought avon m500 from them based on the info and they are very good tires. The avon m550 might be a good tire for you, at less than $100 per tire unless you run 18's, which it does not sound like.

Good Luck!

I agree that the MXV 4's are overpriced.

I did a lot of looking this past year when I replaced the tires on my 98 T5, (17"). I seleted the BFGoodrich Traction TA (H rated). They had excellent reviews from Tire Rack and were pretty reasonably priced. I paid $400 in total which included taxes, mounting, lifetime balance and rotations, and new lifetime valves (the metal ones). They have been great tires for me,
